Default Back from camp and exhausted!

Well, I survived camp! First let me say that it was MUCH easier at 12 than at 47 (almost 48!). Our cabin was the furthest from everything, down the longest gravel hill. My knees are killing me and I don't think I have ever sweated so much in my life!

That being said, the cabins were actually nice. No bunk beds, indoor plumbing, etc. Our cabin mates were all nice and the girls were all well behaved.

Katie and I had a good time. We had Mother - Daughter time which was a nature walk. We had certain assignments, which we completed. Then we walked around and look at the stump of an old tree and talked about the rings. We talked about termites after seeing some holey wood. Katie felt some moss growing under a tree.

Then we went and sat in the prayer garden and watched a centipede make its way across. After that we just looked up and talked about the shapes of the trees. We really enjoyed that time, although the other Mothers complained it was too long.

We had a time to choose from several activites. Katie chose to learn how to use puppets in the children's ministry. She had a ball, learning how to hold the puppet, make it talk, enter and exit. The puppeteers were so nice.

I chose baton twirling. We got there and got our batons and I started twirling mine. Katie's eyes got wide and she said "Mommy! Where did you learn to do THAT!" LOL! I took lessons when I was about 9. It was fun to surprise her.

We had vespers each night in a lovely open air chapel that looked out over the mountains. We participated in camp olympics, swam, had bible study, did crafts, and had a sing along around the campfire.

It was a lot of fun, but PTL that it was only 3 days!

Sounds wonderful, the quiet time with your daughter sounded very special.

Our church camp for 8-11 year olds is in 2 weeks. My dh is the director and I know I'm going to be absolutely exhausted. Still, I just love church camp!
