does your state/city do this?
I just found out about a number, 211, that I can call and find out about different social services and available programs in my area. It's free to call them and is sponsored by United Way. It would be worth the time to find out if it is up and running in your area.

We don't have a 211 service in my area. I dialed 211 to receive a "we're sorry your call could not go through message". Then I checked 211.org. In the link below, you can check to see if 211 is offered in your area:

I saw a clip about that on Extra tonight....it isn't in my zip code area but it is in Cornelia's which is also the city where DH and I work and Paige goes to day care (and only about 10-15 minutes away from us)
