    Angry With fuel costs rising.......

have any of your electric service providers announced that they will be passing on those costs to their customers?

Our electric provider has announced their intention to do this very thing. They have filed a request with state regulators to be allowed to raise rates for residential customers 16% starting in January! That's on top of an added hurricane recovery surcharge that was already added this year AND they currently have in a request to raise basic rates each month.

Ouch! Sorry Kim! That is terrible! I haven't read anything yet, but I'll be sure to keep an eye out in our electric comany letter they send us each month. All of this increase in price for fuel and utilities really scares me when we don't have a house yet. I think it just makes it that much harder to get ahead when these are things we rely on, on a daily basis!

It's been on our news that many things will rise. The cost of electricity, food and clothing being three that I wasn't thrilled about. Anything that is produced or delivered using fuel, will rise apparently.

No word on electricity (last bill for the past six weeks was $152.00 -- grrr!) but I did hear from our local phone company:

Beginning July 1, 2005, EastLink will collect an additional $0.19 per line from its Nova Scotia Telephone customers. This fee will be paid to the incumbent local exchange carrier for operating and administrating the 9-1-1 system.
That's not so bad, but still, that didn't fit into my budget.

    Bright Blessings!

Yes, ours is rising by about $7.00 a month. I live in Nevada and our AC bills are already killing us. Looks like winter won't be much of a relief this coming year.

I've already asked Dh to turn down the temp on our water heater this morning. Trying to remember to shut off all outside lights first thing in the morning.

Our utility company actually announced a rate increase before the cost of fuel went up. I can only imagine how high that rate increase will be now. It's awful.
We don't even have a/c and our utility bill (gas stove & hot water heater, and all electricity) is btw $150-200/mo And that's a welcome break from our winter bills of $300-400/mo.

Our companies had already had 2 rate increases approved. I'm sure they will be going for another one though at the cost of crude oil.

Rhonda, your right. We've noticed already some prices of groceries have gone up. The trucking companies can't absorb the rise in gas prices so its all going to be passed on to the consumer.

I was listening to an American radio station and they said 53% of people (as of this weekend) were concerned about prices rising and many of them wondered if they'd be able to even use their vehicles while paying for their heat.

    Its not looking good!!!

I also don't think we will ever see the gas prices like they were a year ago. It just isn't going to happen.
