    Default the spider was arrested

I drove our old car to the store yesterday.  It's the car DH usually drives.  I'd just driven into the main street of a town close to our store and I noticed a huge huntsman spider (not poisonous but very big) creep down from under the sun visor onto the inside of the windscreen.  I'm not scared of spiders but I didn't like the idea of a big spider jumping on me while I was driving.

This is a small rural town that is having a supermarket built on a platypus creek and no one wants it.  The town has been fighting it for about two years and now that's it's being built everyone is protesting and they've stationed about 100 extra police there to "protect" the building site and the builders.

I stopped the car on the driveway to the swimming pool (it was closed for winter).  I got out of the car and noticed four policemen walking closeby.  I yelled to them: "I need help here." They all came running over. lol  I said: "There's a spider in my car."  They all looked at each other and one of them said: "Paul, this is your job."  Paul looked about 20 and was obviously the youngest one.

He sat in the driver's seat to see the spider properly and grabbed a box of tissues in the passenger's seat.  I said: "I don't want you to kill it!"  and he asked what I wanted him to do.  I said "I want you to put it on a tree."  He rolled his eyes, while the others laughed, and said: "Oh no, you're just like my mother."  Anyhow, he got some tissues and pushed the spider until it sat on them and then took it out of the car.  I told him: "Your mother would be proud of you." he went a kind of pink colour and told me to move the car from blocking the pool driveway.  lol

I had a nice chuckle to myself whenever I thought about it during the day.

Rhonda this is a wonderful tale! I bet those policemen have many conversations about their encounter with you and the spider. Too cute! Thanks for sharing it with us.

the police woulda been there for me too, although because i would have been in a wreck or had jumped up a tree to get away from it!

Oh my goodness! That was so funny (thanks for the laugh!) Here in South east Tx, and living near the lake, we have tons of spiders in our house. When we first moved here 10 yrs ago I would walk around with a broom, knocking them off of my ceiling (there were literally hundreds of them!) Im use to them now (we dont have near as many) but occationally I'll find a big one that will scare the bee-gee-bies outta me! Glad you found some assistance with yours

Rhonda you crack me up! Good job on getting the officers to help you! I would have freaked out! I am deathly afraid of spiders even small ones!

Great story Rhonda! I'm like you, I don't want to harm them but I'm too scared to catch them , that's Mike's job!
I have become so used to creepy crawlies since I came here, I used to be terrified of them in England but now I just want to stop them getting hurt!
