Got an early bday present :)
we were at Costco Saturday and I was looking at the new (or I think its new ) Foodsaver...(V2490 I believe, have to check the model #) Anyways dh asked "Would you use that?" I said "yes,I've always wanted one,and this one is so nice.."
He said " If I get it now,it'll be your bday(Oct) present,if thats what you want.." YAY!!! I was so happy....I used it lastnight.I was shucking corn (25¢ each @wal-mart) at midnight
I also did some roasts I had gotten. I love it,but I dont have anything else to seal up lol
It came with 3 canisters..I did some cheez-its like 4 times lmao!
Who has one? Any tips? Are all bags equal? Mine came with the roll kind, that you have to seal ...Is the cheap brands just a good? is the bags better?

I have one Tammy and I think the bags are pretty much equal. The thing is this, they are expensive. Sssooo a little something I've learned to do is to make the bag a bit larger than I actually need and then carefully cut close to where it's sealed. Then I can re-use the bag a few times, washing in between (so long as it didn't have meat in it, etc...). I love it for cream cheese. We make stuffed peppers and would always lose a little cream cheese to mold b/c we wouldn't use a whole pkg. . But now I can seal it and use it in a month and it's good

Sure Tammy.
They are actually called armadillo eggs...
Take 8-10 jalapeno peppers, cut in half, leaving stem on. Clean out all seeds and insides. Put cream cheese in each 1/2 to fill up. Wrap with 1/2 piece of thin bacon, stick a toothpick in the center to hold the bacon, cook on a slow grill until the bacon is done. Eat as many as you can before everyone else finds them
We love these thangs. I warm em up and eat them the next day at lunch if we have leftovers. They are always a great hit for bbq's. Enjoy.

I love mine Tammy!
I was like you when I got mine, trying to seal up everything in site!
So far the only cheaper bags I bought were Black & Decker brand, $2 cheaper per roll at Wally's. I don't like them as well as the FoodSaver brand. They worked well enough, but are thinner and have another piece of plastic inserted ineach side seam (about 1½" wide) makes washing them out a PITA!
I also do like Lisa does, make my bags larger when first using so I can get many uses out of them. I even save the smallest ones that aren't big enough for food anymore. If you camp you can seal up matches to keep them dry etc... small items like that.
Have fun with your new toy!

I have one Tammy, but I got it for x-mas from my mom & she bought me a ton of bags. I've never used the other brands, yet.
Actually, I don't use it alot. I can everything.
Also, things like sliced cheese, which I buy in a big block and freeze, ....I always feel like I'm going to use it so fast that I don't want to waste a bag....so I just use a baggie.
Also, home-shredded cheese sticks together. I've read that you can sprinkle corn starch on them, buy I haven't tried it yet.
