    Default 'Cherry picking' at the grocery store.

    The current sales will end at midnight, so I went to the grocery store today.

    * I'm watching the Black Forest hams. They have sell-by of tomorrow. Right now, they're down to $10 for a 4 lb ham. ONCE they went down to $5. If they drop to $5 apiece tomorrow, I'll buy all they've got and freeze them. If they're still at $10, I'll buy one for vacation food.

    * I spent $10.84 today.

    -- 1 lb Cache Valley mild cheddar chunks were marked down to $1.99. (sell-by today) There were coupons for $0.75 off 2. So, I bought 4 lbs and promptly stashed them in the freezer. $1.62/lb for cheese is terrific. I wonder if I should get more? Freezer's pretty full. [So, $6.46 for the cheese]

    -- Kraft handi-snacks. $1/pack, but I had 6 coupons for $1 off 1.

    -- discount cookies -- $0.50/pkg. Bought 1 pkg.

    -- Grapes -- $3.88 for 4 lb pkg. Will wash, & pluck them. And freeze some.

    Total: $6.46 + $0.50 + $3.88 = $10.84, for 4 lbs cheddar; 6 pkgs handi-snacks; 1 pkg cookies; and 4 lbs grapes.

    Nice going! I also "cherry pick" as much as I can.
    Yesterday I got 2 bottles of marinade, 2 bottles of salad dressing and a roll of scotch tape free with double coupons. And last week I got 4 boxes of hamburger helper and betty crocker dinner kits free also. I dont normally buy those as I figure I can make my own skillet suppers with a cookbook, but for free, I will take them and use them up! LOL. It pays to watch the sales and coupons
