gas crises
Do you rember the gas crises back in the early 70's? In New York State we could only buy gas on even or odd days; depending on the last didget of your plate.

yes. It was bad here in Canada too, as North America was gripped with gas prices that shot up, FOLLOWED by soaring cost of living increases in basics like food, clothing, and utilities.
Brace yourselves those who didn't live with it.
A few years after that, soaring interest rates of the early eighties. All accompanied by a compensatory depression of the mid eighties in many areas.

My step-dad was talking about the odd and even days last night. I hope it doesn't come down to that.

I remember that, I was about 7 or 8 back then and I remember my Mom waiting in line for hours.
We only lived about 5 minutes from the gas station and we kept walking back & forth between her car & the house cause we got tired of waiting in line with her.

I remember cars running out of gas while waiting in line and everybody helping push the car up to the pump.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

I don't remember it as I was just a little baby, but I remember my parents and grandparents talking about it.
As for here right now, the girl I work with said she heard that for people with larger vehicles that they were limiting people to $30 at a time at some stations. If that's true, then it looks like Joe will have to go to 2-3 stations to fill up his truck or else fill it when it gets to half a tank which is what the reporters on our local news were saying yetserday.
