Oh what a day.......... I called this morning to get a same day Dr appt. They told me 10 am..So I go and after waiting 20 minutes they call me up and say oh your Dr cancelled all her appts. Call and make another appt. So I called and got another appt with a differeent Dr today at 3:20. So thats 2 round trips to the Dr. I told her I had a sore throat, coughing and wheezing. She gave me 44 days worth of steriods. I know I need them but what about the sore throat. I'm trying to nip it in the bud before I end up in the hospital again its only been 4 months since the last hospitalization. It seems like every 3-4 months I have a stay in ICU. I really would like to stop it before it gets bad....

I'm sorry Fern. Do you have a condition that causes this to happen so often? I hope the dr. can keep you from another hospital stay.

The run around with getting an appointment was crazy, why call for an appt when your standing right there? If your throat still hurts in a couple days I'd call again. I don't know if you do this but sometimes I write down all the questions I have so I won't forget to ask even if I'm getting flustered because they seem to be rushing me through.
Hope you feel better soon.

I have cronic asthma, high blood pressure brought on by the asthma meds, Gerd, Diabetes brought on by the asthma meds, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome and now congestive heart failure. I wasn't asmatic until age 37. I have never smoked but all my sisters (4) and brothers(2) smoke and my parents did before the passed. I am the only one with the lung problems. Its a bummer because it is getting worse.

Yes I'm out of my mind. It's a dark and scary place in there.
Do you use or have a air purifier? That may possibly help some it does some it does not help.
With the sore throat and other issues, the doctors know this and still keep you on the meds? That is odd.
I have severe hypertension(brought on by damage from neuro that hit my spinal cord and nerves), I was on the patch and the pill but that dropped my bp down to 40(granted during the correct surgery to fix the breaks in my neck). So I can't take anything and with that and my brain injury treating me is very tricky.
I just have to read everything now and not use as much salt. Hopefully that will help lower it. Are you careful with sodium intake? Caffine? What about excercising(I can't really do much yet other than walking, SCI and TBI are still issues I have) maybe just walking if that is all you can do. I have found that mine is lower after I have been walking strangely enough. But but dh and myslef have found out thesed things "should" help.
Try gargling with salt (I know nasty but, I have to allot) and is it vinegar that is suppose to help also? Nasty but worth a shot to keep your self out of ICU.
I also have GERD along with HP, and severe spastic muscles(mostly in my neck, from cervical fusion and ligament tears and SCI) so, I know where you are comming from and it being you not the one smoking, ect. It seems so unfair.
I would "make" them look into what is going on. They should "move" you to different meds if it has been an ongoing problem. I don't think I would wait though since you have been dealing with the same inssues over time and with the meds and "it" causing more issues that are not going away. I know my dh would be all over the doctors to figure it out(and he has had to do that)
Lots of hugs to you, I know how frustrating this is for you.
