Freecycle users...please read.
I just want to let everyone know whats happened on one of the Alabama boards. A couple signed up under different alias's and got chummy with a lot of the people and got some personal information. They were asking for things under one name and giving 'themselves' items, always coming to the rescue for "people".In onther words gaining alot of trust of everyone.I dont know what they gathered the info for,but someone caught on and they got banned.
Freecycle is a wonderful thing, but PLEASE be careful when you share personal information. Or letting "just anyone" know where you live.

Good point. I don't give anyone anything but my first initial if I am getting something from them, and if it is a house I am going to, I try to get DH to go. The only person who has any more info than that is the woman who lives about 2 miles from me that I have gotten things from and given things to.

I've always been leery of this myself. With DH's work history in law enforcement, we have to be careful who knows where we live. I've never listed anything on Freecycle, but, in the back of my mind I've always thought that if I did, I'd have the person meet me at the WalMart parking lot.

I have given away a few big items on freecycle and I have only met them at like walmart or target parking lot. I just didn't want random strangers to know where I lived. You never know what could happen. Better safe than sorry.
