Scared about hurricane Rita
Malcom and I are heading to Walmart to stock up on items that we will need. We are going to have some really bad weather with this storm and the news reports are saying that we will get at least 10 inches of rain and a lot of wind - I haven't heard how strong the wind will be in my area yet.
We are about 60 miles north of Lake Charles, LA. Basically we are going to be on the east side of the storm.....the worst part. I'll tell you this - I'm scared to death!! Even though we are not on the coast we are still going to have a lot of damage around here with this being a cat 5. We are right across the street from the lake but I'm not worried with our house flooding because we are on a big hill but I may not be able to leave our house if this area floods.
I went through Hurricane Isabel 2 years ago in Norfolk and it was a cat 1 and that was scary. I can't believe how strong and huge this storm is. Please keep us and many others in your prayers. The state of Louisiana needs it bad.
I'll keep you posted on how things are going around here. We are expected to loose power so I will try to post at least until Friday night.

Thank you for the prayers! I just returned from Walmart and it's a madhouse. I was able to get 3 packs of 24 - bottle waters, 3 gal of water, diapers, formula, dog food (can't forget about Daisy)
, batteries, flashlights, can food, medicine for Jacob (Tylenol, etc) just in case he gets sick and we can't get out of our house due to down trees or flooding. I put gas in my car but we are only allowed to put $30 in each vehicle. Thank goodness malcom filled up yesterday - it costs him $70 to fill up. We got plenty of cash out of the ATM.
They are now telling people who have come to our area to keep going north (those with RV's etc). We are expected to have around 100mph winds here in Leesville (Vernon Parrish). If you here them talking about Toledo Bend/ Vernon Parrish area - that is where I'm located at.
Malcom should be here soon to help me out around the house. I'm just trying to get things in order around here. I'll keep you updated.
Thanks for the prayers......so many need them right now.
