Question Anyone else love watching old movies?

I stayed up late last night watching an old Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant movie.

    They just take me away.

I do I do!!! I love classic movies. Cary Grant is my absolute favorite, he was the epitome of sauve and debonaire. I love every one of his movies.

The old movies were so much more entertaining, they actually relied on talent and great scripts instead of special effects or nudity. I agree, they just take me away.

Me, too. My favorite movie is Arsenic and Old Lace, and I also love Charade (is that what you were watching?) and To Catch A Thief. Obvisouly, Grant is my favorite male actor, and I also like Rock Hudson movies. My favorite female lead is definitely Doris Day, although some of her movies (done at her husband/manager's urging) were really horrible- think "Julie." I love Please Don't Eat the Daisies, Send Me No Flowers, It happened to Jane, Pillow Talk...I could go on and on.

Sadly, I don't get much of a chance to watch them now. DD prefers watching Dora and Diego when the TV is on, and when it is off, I am usually busy with her.

I love the way they dressed, the way the houses etc. looked. My were kitchens small back in the day. The movies are just so interesting, it's like traveling back in time...

I love Arsenic and Old Lace. I watched The Way We Were when I was sick with the flu last week. Robert Redford and Barbara Streisand - it was still good after all this time.

I love old movies too. They just don't write dialog like they used too I love the really snappy stuff like His Girl Friday & the Nick & Nora Charles movies. Oh, and anything with Ingrid Bergman, of course. Growing up we didn't have t.v but we did watch videos so I was raised on old movies, old t.v shows & loads of westerns too!

Another oldies lover here! In most cases I would prefer to watch a classic movie over a newer one. And yes, Cary Grant is the best!!!

My dh doesn't like Grant but he LOVES Wayne, so I watch them with him sometimes.

I often think I was born in the wrong decade, kwim?

Me, me,oh pick me to watch old movies with you!!!

Seriously, I love old movies. I agree with Kimberlina about Send Me No Flowers, Pillow Talk, etc. Yes, I HAVE bought them on DVD.

Have any of you seen, "How to Murder Your Wife"? It's a Jack Lemmon/Verna Lisi movie that is very, very hard to find. it is hysterically funny.

Ohh, Bogie....sigh, drool. I loved him the "The Big Sleep", "Casablanca" and "The African Queen".

I agree with the "Thin Man" series too.

I enjoy a good western (John Wayne rules!) as well as western spoofs. "Support Your Local Sheriff" and "Blazing Saddles" are two of my
    favorite spoofs.

I like another type of genre that DH calls "Fifties in New York" movies. If you get a chance, check out "The Opposite Sex" with June Allyson and Leslie Nielson. Also, check out "Woman's World" with June Allyson, Lauren Bacall, Fred Macmurray, Clifton Webb and others. The clothes are to die for!! I love Marilyn Monroe movies, "Auntie Mame"...oh, the list goes on and on.

Have I bored you enough yet?

I love old movies too, but go for the musicals and westerns most of the time. I have Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and hubby's all time favorite The Magnificent Seven. We also have lots of John Wayne movies and of course I have Gone With The Wind.

When the weather is bad and our dish goes out, time to plug in a good movie or two or three.

I almost checked that out at the library to watch this weekend. I have to take a movie and some books by tonight before they close. If it's still there I plan on getting that.

They also have a lot of the "Thin Man" movies I thought about watching some of those as well.
