Default I'm turning into my mother!

(and grandmother)   I loved them both dearly but, come on!

My DH was searching for a container last night.  When I came in from work, he'd emptied the contents of my corner cupboard onto the floor.  It was mostly mason jars and old wide mouth jars.  HAHAHA! Just like my Mum, she never threw out a wide mouthed jar, she might need it for storing something.    When I was a teenager, I was always complaining about the jars in the cupboard and that I had to MOVE them to find what I needed. Poor me. lol

When my sister was here recently, she commented that I saved ribbon and elastic, "you're just like grandma" she said.

I wonder if we see these things when we're small, realise it's a good thing to do, and then later (much much later), we start copying that thing our mums or grandmas did.  Whatever the reason, I'm glad I have my jars and my ribbons.

I know some of you other ladies must do this too.  OK, fess up, who does some quirky thing just like their mum?

Oh Rhonda, I've been thinking about this lately. I made a comment to friends recently about a product that comes in a plastic bucket. Now, mind you these are really nice (approx. 1 gal.) buckets with nice lids. I said to the friend well I love this stuff but I don't know what I'm gonna do with all those buckets! They looked at me like I had 2 heads. After a pause, they said "THROW them AWAY!". I said, yeah I know I could do that.......but they're really nice buckets

LOL that's so funny. I'm with you, Lisa, I'd be keeping them. I could store my ribbons in them.

Margarine containers and large yoghurt pots! Well they come in useful for all sorts of things!

I have a hard time getting rid of plastic pots and trays from plants I buy. I have bunches in the shed...
Also see her when I look in the mirror sometimes.

Well, DH says I have my mom's attitude! That could be very scarey.

I think I see my grandmother in me. I like to cook from scratch just as she did. I try to nurture everyone too, just as she would. I save everything just as she did.

Darlene, I wasn't going to mention the mirror thing but I am my mother's twin.

I see my grandmother in my hands, and in my voice especially when I laugh.

My dad saved EVERYTHING (product of the depression) and I am afraid it is very hard for me to throw anything away too. Just as an example, if DH didn't throw away margarine tubs we would be overrun with them.

My mother was not frugal in any way and I became frugal on my own. I hardly knew my grandmothers they both passed away when I was young. I guess that's why I just love reading all these posts! I feel like my mother only when I clean like a maniac or when I am baking.
