I heard from Daphne and Malcom
I heard from Daphne this morning around 6:00am eastern. She said that Malcom, Jacob and she were doing ok and that the electricity went out in their area around midnight this morning.
They had not been able to examine any damage yet, of course, because it is still dark in Leesville, La.
Leesville, is about 60 miles north of Lake Charles and 30 miles west of the Texas/Louisiana border. So they are in the middle of some bad weather right now.
Conditions should be improving in the next few hours for them. Please keep them and everyone else in the way of Hurricane Rita in your prayers.
Needless to say, I am a wreck.

Thanks for posting Cheryl. They have been on my mind and hope you hear more soon. Wishing them and everyone out there going through this safe harbor. Unbelievable.

Just heard on ABC GMA the levee's in Lake Charles are breaking
water is pouring in, the winds 70 - 80 MPH they showed a LIVE view! Flooding as high as 8 - 10' in areas. Vinton & Lake Charles towns have really got pounded. The ALLSTATE Insurance building, people may have problems making claims there.

Thanks for posting about them. I had wondered earlier what their plans were, whether to stay or go. I hope the worst is over and they'll be high and dry when the dust settles (so to speak).

I have heard from Daphne again around 5:00. They are doing ok. Their house has lost some shingles etc. but otherwise is in good shape.
They almost stayed at her inlaw's house, but changed their minds and stayed at their own home. She said that her inlaw's house has a tree through the roof, but everyone is ok. Bet she was glad, in more ways than one, that she was staying at her home.Hello from Sunny Central Florida

So glad she weathered the storm ok, she must have been so scared. Hope this is the last of all these mega storms for a good long while, enough already!
