    Default Busy -- tired but happy.

    Yesterday, DH, the kids, and I went to gather firewood. Our local park is allowing wood gathering prior to a controlled burn. Well, we got the best load ever.... I'll see if I can include a picture.

    Today, DH went for another load -- good, but not as terrific as yesterday's. But now, I think we have enough.

    While DH was getting wood (took him till 2:30 this afternoon), kids and I went to help at the SHARE co-op (www.sharecolorado.com) and pick up our order.

    I got
    * 3 produce packs
    * grab box
    * baglers
    * 4 Southwest stuffed chicken breasts

    The grab box had a small spiral ham; a frozen pizza; 2 lbs sausage; 2 lbs lunchmeat; 1 lb frozen strawberries; 2 burritos; and a small cake. $15.

    Each $11 produce pack had
    1 head lettuce
    3 romaine hearts
    1 cantaloupe
    1 lb seedless grapes
    1 bunch celery
    2 lbs onions
    6 potatoes
    2 tomatoes
    1 bunch scallions
    1 lb carrots
    5 pears
    5 gala apples

    And I had bought 3 produce packs.

    So, DD#2 and I hauled out my handy-dandy $10 thrift store Cuisinart and did some chopping. We made a Waldorf salad; and a carrot salad. And we chopped celery; onions; scallions; and carrots just to have on hand to add to our cooking. DD plucked all the grapes into a bowl.

    And the whole family helped clean up the kitchen after dinner tonight.

    I also used the Tightwad Gazette's stain removal soak on a bunch of dingy whites. They're in the dryer now.

    Whew! But glad to have so much done.

    That's so good you can collect wood from the park. You both benefit. Nice bargains there too. A good day's work all round.

    That wood has already warmed you once while you gathered & hauled it. It will again when you split & stack and yet once more when you burn it.
    Good for you & your family!

    I love days like you had. Very rewarding. I live in a small city all our wood is bought and if it wasn't, I still could not get my dh to collect it. Good for you, it sounds like you have a wonderful family.
