Default When & how do you swop your Seasonal clothes?

The weather here is turning cooler it's true, but we keep having odd days when it is really quite warm, so at the moment I don't know if I am Arthur or Martha with my clothes

So how do you decide when to change your clothing from warm to cool weather ?

( or the reverse for our Antipodean pals

In the past I have generally changed them by say middle of October, but I have decided that as I wear the warmer weather clothes, as they become due for washing I shall then put that article of clothing away.

I can do this a little more easily as I have de-junked the under bed storage and now I have clothing space just waiting to be filled with my Summer clothes

Happiness is space with a purpose!

Because we have an overwhelming # of warm season days compared to cold/cool temps, we don't bother switching out. The few cooler weather clothes we have stay out year round in the closet.

I have always thought it was neat that people switched out their clothes. I'm just not that organized. Everything is just in closets and dressers like usual. We just grab long sleeves and pants vs. short sleeves and shorts.

I was just telling Dave this morning that I'll be starting to switch ours out. Up until now the kids have been wearing shorts to school. I think they can get away with capri pants or regular pants and short sleeve shirts for now. In 2 more weeks or so (depends on the weather and how unseasonably warm it is here) I'll put away the short sleeve shirts and have only l/s ones out.

I am the only one that switches my clothes. DH doesn't have as many as I do!

The only things I put away are Summer tops, shorts, capris, etc. They go in a bin under the bed, the wool sweaters, turtlenecks, long underwear, winter gear all come out on the shelves to replace what I just put away. Everything is in one bin under my bed. Everything else stays out if its three season. Summer shoes get put back into the closet and the Fall/Winter shoes and boots are brought to the front. We have to be neat and organized because, like Karen we live in a small space. 500 sq. ft. and like it that way!

Dh keeps all of his out all year. I started switching out the kids stuff this past weekend, I kept out two short sleeved dresses and a couple of knee length shorts and capri pants for each, t shirts (most) are out year round for under sweaters and sweatshirts. The last pair of sandals will probably go away this weekend. I started putting my things away, but it will take a few more hours on saturday to wrap that up. Our things go into marked totes in the basement, mine are marked with my name, the kids are filed by size.

I have put away the really summer outfits already and have my winter sweaters, etc on shelves ready to go. Now as I go along, I will put more summer items to the back of the closet and pull the winter ones to the front. I had gotten rid of tons of clothes so there is room to do it that way.
