    Default New Furnace

We had the oil company in here on Wednesday to clean our furnace out and get it ready for winter and they found a huge crack in the boiler part of it so now we have to put a whole new system in to the tune of $6800..
we paid half of it in cash and will put the other half on the credit card as that is the exact amount that we had in our savings give or take a few hundred...so we don't want to be without anything in the savings.
They are here today taking the old one out and will finish up tomorrow with the new one.
This could not have happened at a worst time as dh is having problems at work and his job is unstable at the moment...he is on workmens comp..and always giving him a hard time.

On top of that my Aunt died yesterday morning after being in the hospital for 5 months with complications from her diabetes...her death was very unexpected....she was getting ready to be released to rehab for a problem with her leg when her heart gave out Tuesday morning.
She did die and they brought her back but she was on life support and had no brain activity so she was brain dead..her family decided to take her off the life support and stop the dialises (sp?) for her kidneys.
She was only 62 or 63 not sure which..
I can not attend her funeral as I can not get off of work.

I'm sure something else will go wrong as it always happens in three's...

Debbie. I'm soooooooooooooo sorry about your aunt. Hugs to you!

And the furnace is a rotten piece of "luck" isn't it? Good grief. Thank goodness you had 1/2 the money in savings. Seems like a homeowner can rely on major appliances to quit at the worst possible times. On the bright side, if there is one --- it isn't January and -10 degrees!!! Better to find out about the problem now and get the system replaced while it is still fairly mild than in the deep freeze of winter.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that the "rule of 3s" doesn't visit you after all.

    Hang in there.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your aunt. You and your family are in my prayers.

I am glad you were able to replace the furnance. I just wish it would have cost less to replace it.

I'm so sorry Debbie. It's sad about your aunt

Bummer on the furnace but glad you had a little in savings to help pay for it. Our a/c went out last summer and it cost right at $5,000,the bad thing is,other than it being July and hot as heck down here lol,the unit was only about 5 yrs old.

    I'll be thinking about you!

I'm sorry to hear about your aunt, Debbie.

The appliances will always give out when you least expect them to and when it couldn't be worse timing. When we bought our house, in a year's time we had to replace every appliance, including the heat and a/c . We felt like we had bought the money pit. I hope you're done with your bad luck.
