I asked for his help so I can't complain
Last night I had cooked chicken in the crock pot and some veggies and baked beans. We had a nice dinner but I was so tired so I asked Malcom if he would put the food away while I went to take a bath. he said no problem. So after I take a bath, Malcom is in bed and so is the baby. I went to the kitchen just to make sure everything is turned off, etc and look in the fridge....guess what I saw??? Well the food was put away.......in the same pots and pans I cooked them in with no lids on them!!!! He just stuck them in the fridge this way. So then I'm wondering where in the world the chicken is......it's still in the cp with the lid put back on. I guess this is his way of putting away the food. Oh and by the way - the lid to the crockpot was dirty and at the bottom of the sink underneath dirty dishes. he had to look for that!! Needless to say I'll be throwing the chicken out today - can't and won't eat that!!
I could have been frustrated but I just shook my head and giggled!! Men - do they play dumb just to get out of doing things in the future???? I think so!!

Sounds like something my DH would do.
You do know it is a proven fact that women have bigger brains, right?
I think at some future point I would actually explain, in as conversational a way as possible, how and why you put things away the way you do. I just wouldn't relate it to this incident.

You should have just saved it all like it was and then got it out for supper tonite. It would have been all dried out, the lid to the crockpot would have been grimey and you could have pretended that you were going to feed him that.....
Gripey would have had a cow. Then I'd have fed him a sandwich....lol. That's funny, I can just imagine your face when you opened up the fridge.

Now...remember...flylady says anything worth doing is worth doing incorrectly....
ROFLMBO
and .... You can do anything for 15 minutes...except WHINE...
ROFLMBO!
You told the man to put the stuff away...not to put it in other containers w/ lids THEN put it away! LOL
Men are just too funny! AND very literal thinkers. He did put it away!

You are right Graci - he put it away alright. I had thought about serving him these leftovers for dinner tonight but I decided not to. If it happens again I just may have to do that to "prove a point"!

Daph,
I just thought it was funny. Hope I didn't offend.
The thing is if you "say anything" about him not doing it "right", he will be inclined to NOT be helpful. Not out of spite, but because he'll be afraid to mess it up, again.
Personally, I would just thank him for putting it away. And next time, be a bit more specific. They can't read minds...TG!

We have a catch 22.....if I tell dh EXACTLY what to do...he gets mad. "I'm not stupid (a child, an idiot, insert whatever here
) I *know* how to do it!!!!"
LOL!
But, if I *don't* give specific instructions...well,......you know how it is.

Thats exactly how it is here. If you tell him HOW to do it,they just roll their eyes and be like "I KNOW"...and if you don't and comment on it being done wrong it's "Well noone told me how to do.." all sad like so you dont get mad

I have a dh and a teenaged ds who do the exact same thing. We have had many left overs go to the garbage by this method.
Right now I'm sick and dh is somewhat doing the housework but he can't figure out how there is always dirty dishes and laundry.
