    Default Frugal Fall!!

The air conditioning is off, it is too early to put the heat on, so I can save there, it's the tail end of garage sale season here, so prices are good and we have had lots of triple coupon weeks.
I'm even willing to really cook lately (from scratch, baking, roasts etc) So far these things are helping to make up for the bundle I'm paying for gas!!! Where are you saving because of the season?

We haven't turned our heat up yet. HUGE for Northern NY

We are going Apple picking next weekend. Cheaper than the grocery store, plus it's a great family activity

we don't pay for our utilities because they are included in our rent, but we still try not to abuse them.
unfortunatly the a/c is still on here. we had it off for about 2 weeks but it got too humid so on it came. hopefully we can turn it off again soon.

it has cooled down some so for us the savings are in what we do to entertain ourselves. the kids rode their bikes for a while today. earlier we went to mil's and the kids played outside there.

no great sales or double coupons, just been planning my grocery trips a lot better. even got out the crockpot the other day.

A/C can be turned off during the day while noone is home...some days all day.

    Taken advantage of garage sales.

    Baking more!

No a/c or heat here either, loving having the windows open with a comfy breeze blowing through the house.

Staying at home, to save gas and money.

Eating mostly from the pantry and freezer.

Started a cash only system for groceries and eating out. (this has been a big eye opener!)

Few sales and no doubles here but have stocked up on what was on sale that I needed.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

Air is off, windows open, drapes open to let in the morning sun. I spent part of the afternoon doing some OAMC. Bought a boat load of sweaters all summer at yard sales and will continue until there are no more sales...

I put beans in the Crock Pot today and made a huge bowl of egg salad. I knew that if there wasn't something to eat when DH and DSs got home for their Scout camping trip, DH would want to eat out.

I ate out with a friend on Friday night, but we used a coupon and only spent about 3.50 each for a sub and pop (had to buy the pops to get the free sub). We brought them home and ate the chips I had at my house to save more $.

I wanted food out last night, but came home and used chicken noodle soup (.10 a can on loss leader--I ate half), salad (about .25) and open faced tuna on toast with melted cheese (about .35). I addded a glass of milk, so only spent about .75 instead of the minimum of $4.00 it would take for a meal out!

~We have had to turn on the furnace because we have had some very cool and wet days. So we have had to use the dryer too.
But we have had a balmy day here and there when the heater was turned off.
~ no more food in the garden except a few jerusalem artichokes. We ate pretty well everything as it was harvested. I usually would freeze and save as much as possible for the winter months when produce was more expensive but this year we just ate it all in the summer because we didn't have enough money. That is going to make winter even more tough!
~ I do have bluberries in the freezer and some blackberries.
~also have enough jam for the year.
~frozen whole pink salmon has been very cheap (about 3-3.50 each)! And I have some winter squash. I also hope to get some pumpkins given to me in the next few weeks so I can freeze it for breads and muffins.
~halloween is coming soon, I confiscate the childrens candy and dole it out carefully as treats, I can usually make it last well past Christmas.
~a woman at church is going to give a class on making fancy little photo albums. Each album will cost about $5 in supplies. My 14 and 11 yr.olds and I will make them for Christmas for everyone on our lists.

~turkey season is here again. I cheap turkey makes a lot of meals
~it is cold enough for oatmeal for nreakfast again.
