Default the kids were so cute today

We try to have both kids try new foods, so we bought them both a pomegranate. They were both so interested in what it was and how to eat it. Their faces were so funny when they saw it on their plates. Both kids loved it and call it the yummy red fruit. lol

This time of yr has so many fun foods to try. It's neat to see my kids enjoying something new.

Zachary first asked what is it? Is it an apple? a plum? Too cute.

Wow, it's really good they are game enough to try new foods, so many kids won't. Pomegranates are so strange looking, it's no wonder Zachary was quizzing you about it.

That's great that they will try new foods. Even better when they like them.

Now you will have to get them to try "Ugly Fruit". I never knew such fruit excisted until ds#2 brought one home. It's a cross between a grapefruit and a tangerine. Your kids will probably get a chuckle out of the name of the fruit

We go by the same philosophy and it's funny sometimes to hear what Julia's guesses are. We'll need to try pomegranate next!

We had them try kiwi before and neither of them were too impressed because of the "seeds". Both my kids are highly skeptical over seeds. lol They don't like seeds on bread/bagels, but love sunflower seeds and pistachios. Anyway, so my neighbor has us all over for lunch before school started. She served a fruit salad with kiwi in it. They both remembered it being kiwi and I was fearful that they might pick it out of their fruit salad. That would be a bit embarrassing when a guest for lunch. I was so happy when they said they liked kiwi and ate it like it was the best thing in the world. They even asked for it a few times since having lunch next door. I was so proud of them.

I was in my 20's before trying pomegranate and about the same age before I ever had kiwi too. I keep trying to think of new foods to introduce them to. I'd like to get a coconut next. Neither of them have had a fresh one. They were both pretty excited over just a fresh pineapple. lol

We need to try the dragon fruit and ugly fruit. My girls love mango, something I never tried until a few years ago. We've done the pomegranate thing as well as kiwi too. They don't like the kiwi either lol

I don't know the "proper" way, but I just loosen the outer skin a bit and we scoop out the fruit. It just ended up a little bowl of tiny fruit "beads". They thought it was fun.

An easy way to dislodge pomegranite seeds is to cut it in half and then wack the back of the fruit with a wooden spoon. Aim it over a bowl to catch the seeds. I've seen Marth Stewart do this. lol

I love Pomegranates, I'll have to see how Wynter and Phoenix like them.
