I big shop once a month. With small trips bi-weekly or so.

Before dh retired, he got paid once a month. Now he gets his retirement check once & month & his new job paycheck every week. I still go once a month LOL.

Weekly. Then on occasion, in the middle of the week a quick trip to the mini mart for milk.

Weekly for me as well but I also have a bad habit of going during the week when I really don't need to!

I do one big grocery shopping a week, buying sale items. Than I shop maybe two or three more times a week to buy fresh organic veggies and fruit. Our grocery budget is where I splurge. We are frugal in all other area except for what we eat.

I usually shop once a week. I find it's the easiest way for me to stay on top of things.

Roughly once a month, we go to town an hour away for a big stock up.

I also hit the sales and 'cherry pick' at our local grocer -- every week.

Once a month, I get an order from the SHARE co-op (www.sharecolorado.com).

So, here's what November will look like for me:

Nov 4 -- stock up in the city.
Nov 7, 14, 21, 28 -- buy sale items (plus some perishables like milk) at the local grocery store.
    Nov 19 -- SHARE co-op order.

Now, I don't need to go to the grocery store every week for cherry picking. But it helps me keep a full pantry at low cost. For example, this week, I'm buying milk ($2/gal); eggs ($1/18 eggs); mozzerella cheese ($4/lb); chunky soups ($1/apiece); and some produce that are on a good sale. I'll use the milk and produce immediately, but the soups will go into the pantry for a day when I'm too tired to cook.

Every week IF we need items. Otherwise I just drop in and grab the sale items or stockpile items when I am out and about in that area.

for example, I go to a weight watchers meeting on Thursday nights. Right next door is a Target, Walmart and Aldis. So if I need those stores loss leaders or milk, I will grab it when I am there.

I usually hit the local grocery store once a week or once every two weeks depending on their ads and my coupons.

I am finding that as I keep stockpiling and keep the stockpile built up, I dont have to shop for much. I just fill in the stockpile with loss leaders. Finally!!!

Grocery shopping is a major ordeal for me, so every other week is about all I can do. DH has to go with me because I can't bag and carry out on my own. Would like one major trip monthly, but I just don't have the room to keep that much food on hand. And of course it would be even more of an ordeal -- just less often.
