how do you use the internet?
I don't do much online really, in comparison to some of my family members. I check my email boxes, hang out at FV, upload pics at walmart so my mom can get them, I input ds's school work, i pay bills, and i IM. Sometimes i look up recipes or research topics for family use. Otherwise, not alot of activity.

That seem like alot to me!! LOL!
I do the same. I do quite alot of reading articles online, though, too. I shop for certain items, compare prices & read reviews. I don't IM, though, I guess.

Email, FV, a few other sites, IM, shop, do my banking, pay a few bills, always try to find the best online price when I'm gonna make a "significant" purchase (of say $50 or more).

Check my e-mail, check several favorite news or political sites, check entertainment sites, post here (Frugal village is the best forum I've ever seen!), search, study, post pictures for friends, look at friends' posted pictures, shop a little (love that e-bay!), occasionally play games. I don't IM or visit chat rooms but that's about it!

I use the internet for research. Mostly for my books. I have had a few private clients -- some projects require the internet, some are just good old fashioned research -- interviews, looking things up on site at law or medical libraries, going to or calling businesses and asking questions etc. I also do some personal research as well as research for my art -- it's a good way to take a look at art galleries long distance before approaching them.
There are also a few things I buy online -- some art and business supplies. DH also orders our vitamins online. He also uses the online bill pay service from our bank.
We also use e-mail as much as possible instead of snail mail. Not all of our family members are online, but we are in contact with the ones that are much more frequently now. Almost all of our correspondence with companies over customer service matters is done by e-mail -- much easier than the phone.
I just surf from time to time to keep up on what's out there. I also love new recipes, so I browse for those. I like to check out web addresses given on the news or commercials.
Other than e-mail this is really the only interactive thing I'm doing right now. No offense intended, but when I go online I'm looking for information -- not necessarily friends. I have met a few people online who have become friends, but I don't go to interactive sites expecting people to be my friends. There's just too much I don't know about people online -- including that they are really who they say they are. Most of my friends are offline.
I do have a couple of websites, but I don't actively sell from them. I use one as my personal gallery -- a place to take gallery owners and others interested in my art -- mostly just so they can see what I do. The other is also a personal site, but it is more just photos, articles, craft patterns, a few recipies, etc. That is also just for if someone wants to see something I can send them there.
I also do a lot of computer work offline. Writing and typesetting -- I also do some work with photos.
When I met my DH I never dreamed I would ever touch a computer let alone do all I do now. I had a really bad high school typing experience so I was afraid of the keyboard. It took a long time for DH to convince me to even try. My typing is much better now. I think it's just knowing that I can correct my mistakes -- I really don't make that many anymore.

I forgot! i also reconnected with some friends thanks to the internet. When we graduated we all dispursed from where we had lived for a variety of reasons, and because of being able to email, i can keep up with one in CA, one in NY, and of course my bestest buddy in TN, and one in TX.

FV, email, im, search for neat stuff for myself & all of you, comparison shop, check cc transactions...
You can go anywhere, meet people clear across the world & find out just about anything by using a computer. I love the adventure of it all.
