Question When you're on the computer...

are you in a separate room from the rest of the family or the same room?

Is your computer room an office or *other*? If other please explain.

I am in a separate room, in an office/playroom. I really want a laptop so I can surf in the same room as Gripey watches t.v.. I wouldn't feel as if I'm "cheating" for lack of a better word. I always feel as if I should be sitting in the chair beside him while he's in the living room, yes even when football is on (like now for instance).

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

We converted one of our spare bedrooms to a study/office. Dh and I each have a computer of our own so we can sit there doing our own thing without having to wait for the other to get off!

We have our own computers too. DH has his in our home office and mine is in the family room. I did this on purpose because when our kids where still at school I wanted the computer they used where I could see it.

we have the computer set up in the spare room which doubles as an office. I like it this way, at the other house I had it in the living room and could never concentrate with all the interruptions, having it away from the living area means I can go and check my email and stuff in peace, plus I dont have DH looking over my shoulder to see what I type LOL. He has an office out in a converted shed in the garden for when he is working from home, he doesnt often use this computer.

our computer is in living room. When we move (in the next couple of months), I would like to have it in the kitchen as that is "My Office" and I use the computer a lot for recipes. The kitchen is the hub of our house so it would be a great place to have it. Hopefully, we find a house that has a big kitchen or open kitchen/living room (that is my ideal).

Ours is currently in the living room but we are trying to figure out a way to move it into the kitchen.

I would love to have it in the kitchen because it is the hub of our home, too, like some others have said.  I use our computer for everything - recipes, news, weather, emailing the kids teachers, etc- and it would be great having it there.  Trouble is, we have such a small home and an especially small eat-in kitchen (with no formal dining room) that it is difficult trying to find space there.

We currently trying to figure out how to custom make something that will fit in our small area without taking up precious space from elsewhere.

We have 2 but only one is online and both are in the livingroom. Main one downstairs and the other on the balcony.
Put it in the livingroom to keep an eye on the kids when they were using it. (also like the tv here to watch my soaps when chatting with you ladies in the afternoon, lol.)

Ours is in our spare room. I, too, get distracted easy. Dh would yak at me constantly if I was in the same room with him, lol, so this works best! Would love to get a laptop someday and put this in our kitchen area as well. Can type while I'm messing around in the kitchen, which is one of my favorite things to do. Yup, the kitchen is the hub here. For me, anyways. The living room (well, particularly one chair) is the hub for hubby.

    Bring on them baby steps...
    Step 1: done
Step 2: waiting on amount, hubby had followup colonoscopy, I had visit to ER with followup procedure
Step 3: to follow, won't know aim until things settle
Step 4: to follow, currently at 6%
    Step 5: grown child
    Step 6: huge mortgage ANNIHILATED!!
    Step 7: ahhhh....

My desktop is in a separate area ( used to be a porch, then converted to a catch all room, then I stuck my computer there ) I like it here for when I need to concentrate, however family is always using the route thru my "room" to go inside and outside.

I have a laptop I bring sometimes to the livingroom, but it's more aggravating since I have dialup and have to drag a long phone line with me. It would really be cool though if I had a wireless connection to carry the laptop from room to room. Not happening though. :-)

As of yesterday afternoon it is in the living room. When we first moved here last year we put the computer in the smallest room (the would be nursery)......Finally after complaining about it and not wanting to be on the computer at night while Paige is trying to sleep, I crawled under the house yesterday and moved the cable so now it is in the living room.

It's on the backside of part of the sectional sofa up against the wall, so that whomever may be on it can see the TV.

Another reason I wanted it out of Paige's room is because with her crawling now she goes straight to the printer and starts beating the buttons and whe she would be in her wallker she would ram into the computer tower

We have an office with 3 computers in it. Our hallway is L shaped so I can see the kids when they play in Zachary's room from this room. We recently removed the door off of this room. The door used to open and hit the built in desk that is a complete wall in here and Gabe's desk section was right next to the door. Now he doesn't have the door right smack next to him. (because we never closed this door)

With the new baby on the way, we considered making this our bedroom, but it's an obvious office with how it looks and I'm not sure I want to lose our office. We're undecided what we're doing at this point. We also have a huge bonus room upstairs, but it only has one small window (so we wouldn't use it as a bedroom)and needs to be reinsulated. It would make a good office if we ever get around to the improvements. The previous owner's used it as an office too. Too cold come winter time and way too hot come summer for me.

We have one in our office, and one computer in our bedroom. When I am online I am usually on the one in the bedroom because it's off of Zachary's room. That way I can see him while he is playing.

The spare bedroom is my office and where the computer is. There are 2 computers in here but only mine is connected to the internet. DD doesn't use hers anymore so it's just sitting collecting dust.

There's lots of junk in here, too, like craft magazines, books, sewing machine, a small tv. No way could anyone sleep in here with the two long desks full of stuff.

I've been thinking of moving my computer into a corner in my bedroom and converting this room back to being a spare bedroom.

Stuff that has no home seems to get piled up in here and I am sick of the clutter. I am seperated from everyone in this room (as if I mind that LOL).

Yes, it is my hideaway where I can peacefully surf and watch tv or listen to radio while I do things on my computer but it's the worst as far as messy rooms.
