mad and a tad worried!
<DIV>GRRRRR! I look up and noticed a man walking out of my barn!! I'm in PJ's so I told Dh to get out there.
He had a DNR patch on his jacket (unmarked truck though). Dh asked what he needed. He asked if they were hunting where they went hunting yesterday (well obviously he knows they were I'm assuming). He then told Dh someone illegall shot a buck there yesterday. Was it possible our son wandered off and shot it ? Dh told him no and that Dev is only 12 and can't leave his side.
Either someone wrote down all the liscense plates of anyone in the area or he isn't really DNR and is snooping.
Of course Dh doesn't bother to ask what the hell a buck shot 30 miles away has to do with him entering our barn without first knocking on the door!!! Excuse me this is private property!
I will be calling the DNR bright and early tomorrow . I just cant believe they can be allowed to enter your barn with out knocking on the door! And if the deer is dead 30 miles away obviously it's not in my barn!</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Also since the truck was unmarked and Dh didn't ask for id this guy could be anyone!!! Not comforting since I'm in an isolated area and alone alot!</DIV><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

I'd be suspicious too, Michelle. No one should be on your property without your permission.

Did you happen to get his license plate number from his truck? It might come in handy just in case he doesn't work for DNR.
I would be suspicious of anyone walking into anything on my property and not asking first.~*Michelle*~

Wow! If it's really DNR I'm surprised they didn't come to the door also. Yep, scary!

I am quite anxious to call tomorrow. FIL had his truck parked right next to Dh while hunting.FIL didn't get a phone call or a visit!
Dh saidhe said his name but he doesn't remember it. I didn't get a liscense. I only saw the side of the truck out the window.~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

They should always come to your door. They can not just walk into your property like that. Keep an eye out on things!

Too bad you didn't have a big ole watch dog in that barn who doesn't like people snooping where they aren't invited. I'd be mad too. Hope you get some answers tomorrow

I called the closest DNR office. He said in some circumstances they do have that right but he can't say without knowing the circumstances. I told him everything I knew. Including FIL was parked next to Dh but not contacted. I told him the town the guy said he was from. I asked him what a dead buck 30 miles away could have to do with being in my barn without asking first. I guess you give up the right to privacy when you buy a hunting liscense! Sounded all ok to him until he found out what town I am in. I am not in this guys county!!! We have a local guy. He said he would call the dnr officer that it supposedly was and ask if he was here because it would not be impossible but unusual for him to be here~!
So I'm still waiting!~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

Well I got my answer. Might I say he covered his butt very well! I was told he was in our barn looking for us he definately wasn't illegally searching! He claims he knocked on the door but we didn't answer. Come on. 4 people in the house and 2 very barky dogs. No way he knocked. He told his boss he saw dh in the window as he was comming out of the barn and flagged him outside. Nope I saw him and told Dh to get ouside.
Oh well at least he is DNR. I could have swore we constitutionally had the right to privacy in America! I guess we will put a lock on the barn. Please do tell me why he would open a shut barn door, see its pitch black in there and there is no livestock and still go looking for us? Sound fishy?

Well, I'm breathing a sigh of relief that he was at least the person he said he was.
I think maybe I'd call the local news station and ask them to do a story about this.
