Default Why is my house so messy on Mondays?

Because everyone is home on the weekends and no one but me picks up! The girls pick up what I ask them to, but DH just kicks stuff out of his way. Hmmm, maybe HE needs a chore chart huh? I always feel like I start the week behind the 8 ball.

Is your house messier on Mondays?

Because that's just how it is. Yep, we have the exact same problem. I usually spend all day Monday catching up from the weekend. And I really hate it if I have things scheduled on Monday. That messes me up bad!

My house is ALWAYS messier on Mondays. Partially (okay, mostly) because everyone is home. Partly because we are always on the go, have errands to run, projects on the house to work on, etc. And partly because I find it pointless to pick up on the weekends. It's like that Erma Bombeck saying "Cleaning house while children are growing is like shovelling snow while it's still snowing"

One thing I haven't figured out is, WHY do I have so much more laundry after the weekend

Ours is definitely messier on Mondays. We hurry out the door Sunday morning leaving everything behind, breakfast dishes, p.j.s, anything we got out before we left. If we come home in the afternoon it's just to take a quick nap before choir practice & church again in the evening.

Sunday night we get home around 8, make a late supper and get the girls in bed. Philip & I read, check our e-mail, or watch a movie then we go to bed. Monday morning I am confronted by everything that just got laid aside on Sunday. Still, it takes me less than an hour to get everything back the way I want it.

Ooooooh...I love this thread. Thank you for letting me know I'm not crazy!!!

But our house is always a mess on Mondays!!!!! And yes, on the weekends, I seem to be the one always trying to pick up here and there.

In fact, yesterday, I MADE dh and dd clean up as I was going out for a couple of hours. The kitchen was cleaned, the living room was cleaned and the clothes were in the laundry. But by nightime, it was a mess again!

And yes, now at noon on Monday, it is back to order!

For sure mine is. Like YankeeMom though, it is pretty pointless to try and do a thorough cleaning while everyone is here.

Most of the time, I get it all back clean and spiffy on Mondays.I find it hard to think clearly and function properly till it's all back the way I want it. Not today... my migraine has gotten the better of me. lol Maybe tomorrow.

I'm glad to see that I'm the only one dealing with this! It's crazy that all these capable human beings can't pick up their own stuff. I really do get tired of feeling like a maid.
