hurray
I was a bit bummed that Gabe had class tonight and wouldn't be able to enjoy Halloween with us. I felt a little silly feeling so disappointed. It's just it would be the first year he wasn't with us and I was feeling bummed. I decided to just not let it bother me and that I was confident I could handle Halloween alone with the kids. lol
Anyway, Gabe just came home for lunch and said he asked his teacher if he could take his exam this afternoon and not attend class this evening and she said that was fine. He'll be taking his exam at 3:30pm and will be home within a couple of hours. HURRAY. He was feeling bad last night and I was trying to be supportive and let him know that it was ok really..I mean c'mon now. lol But now I'm just so happy he can be with us.
Made my day.

Oh my gosh..my day got even better.
I drove Zachary to class and stayed a bit longer because they are dressed in costumes today and I wanted to be sure he didn't get too wild. lol A bunch of boys dressed like heros can get out of control real quick. rofl I'm one of those moms that just wanted to be sure he wasn't one of them. lol
So, I get home and Gabe says the principal just called with Zachary in the office. Oh my gosh. I about passed out. I said oh no! I just left the school and he was calm and fine. The boys were all a bit wild in the hall before entering class, but had all settled down within 10 minutes of getting their coats and backpacks hungup, etc.
It was good news though.
He was selected as student of the month.
I wish I could have talked to him on the phone, but was so glad Gabe was home to do it. I think it's more special being dad in this case. Gabe was just beaming and I'm so proud of Zachary.

You're so lucky right now. I'm the one going to miss trick or treating tonight. I have class and can't miss it. I'm going to miss a class next week for surgery so I have to get the notes tonight for our test. This stinks. I'm usually the one that takes the boys out, while hubby sits in the car or stays home and gives out candy. I have two batmen and one darth vader. I'm not going to see any of them. It stinks.

aww Beverly, I'm so sorry. I had class on the evening we usually go downtown for their halloween festival and I was bummed, so of course when Gabe was going to have to be in class, I just felt sad because it felt weird to have something different this year.
I ended up getting the kids these fun halloween cups ($1 for 2)and they dressed up and had popcorn and watched Casper with me and hubby and I felt a little better knowing we had done something else.
Classes really take away a lot of time from family, but I try to keep in mind that overall it's for all of us. Hoping you aren't too bummed, but sure understand the disappointment.
Hug those heros of yours.

WTG Zachary!!!!

Sara, I am so glad that everything worked out and Gabe can go with you and the kiddos tonight. I bet they will be adorable in their costumes. Halloween is so fun, I love seeing the neighborhood kids dressed up and hearing their laughter as they treat or treat.

I bet it did make your day.
You all have fun tonight. Bet you are both smiling from ear to ear over Zach.

WTG Zachary!!

I'm glad Gabe gets to go. I'd be upset to if Steve couldn't go with us. I looked a month ago to see what shift he'd be on and was glad he'd be on first. All last week I kept thinking something was gonna screw this up...so far so good....if he calls I'll know he has to work over...so I'm not answering the phone......like that'll help LOL!
