Talking Just for fun, what's your home decor style?

Now let's let go of all money considerations and just pretend you hired a designer to do you a nice new house.

    What would you do???????

I'm split between a desire for cushy comfort with lots of rugs, lamps, hardwood floors, and classic colours

and something that is pure scandinavian with blonde woods, palest neutrals and pale watery blues, with a lot of brushed silver and stark swedish crystal in melted blobs highlit with halogens and mirrors.

Lots of color and fun stuff. I love reds, blues (which is what we're fixing to paint our kitchen).

I also love the look of some of those homes in the Beautiful Homes Magazine but I think for my home I'm more Budget Decor - with the garage sale finds and the quirky figurines and lots of color and fun.

Just as long as there isn't a lot of dark colored wood - I hate just about anything brown - long story.

My home decor is traditional.Dark cherry wood furniture with yellow walls and white trim. The draperies are swagged and floral in blue, white and yellow. Sofa and armchair are white with pillows to match the draperies and hardwood flooring.

If I were to do it over I would have a hard time deciding between french country and modern contemporary.

If I had unlimited money...i don't know. But right now my living room is a country motif..the walls are a dark beige with border that says ~live well, laugh often, love much~ on it..it's really cute..I have dark blue furniture and blue/beige plaid curtains. I have grapewine wreaths w/berrys and a sign that says "home is where the heart is"...lots of family pictures.

My kitchen right now has copper accents and some cat stuff..I am in the process of changing my computer room to my "cat" room.

My bedroom furniture is a sage green color with light oak accents..and the motif is Angels..I have alot of them but I am kinda ready to change this motif, too.

Our bathrooms right now are kinda plain, the main bathroom off the hall is more "masculine" and is considered DH's bathroom. The bathroom off of our bedroom is more "feminine" and is mine.

Our 3rd bedroom is my hubby's "NASCAR" room. He is a big collector and has a little bit of everything Nascar. We want to put up Jeff Gordon border in that room (his fave driver.)

We have only had our house a little over a year..so decorating is a slow process..but we are getting to it little by little. Last year..I put up shutters on the front of the house and they look great. I told my Mom by the time I get it decorated the way I want..I will be ready to move!

I have red wood furniture, my furniture is mostly muted colors with red accents. I love red But only as an accent. I'm not big on the leather & chrome. My style is more mission-style furniture with some traditional pieces thrown in. I'm not big on fancy scroll work in my table legs/chairs, etc. I like straight lines, but not straight contemporary lines, if that makes sense LOL.

THIS is my entertainment center, only it's all doors on the bottom and it doesn't have the video shelves on the end that pull out.

THIS is my coffee table, the end tables are the same style, from Kmart

THIS is my sofa, only I only have the sofa part. No sectional for me. Ours is a sofa bed.

THIS and THIS is our bedroom set (in our old apartment).

I like Americana stuff too I think that's where I would splurge if money were no option

    Great thread Margery!

My home is a cross between grandma's farmhouse (country style with lots of junktiques, some doillies here and there, a few collections of things...none of it rare or precious except to me and mine) meets french country (more in the kitchen than anywhere). This would be my style no matter the amount of money available to me for decorating. I love the country mix and comfort and cozyness it brings. I also love having some hand me downs from family and found things from garage sales, etc. I can tell you where and when I got everything in my house, not to mention how little I paid for it (well I am FRUGAL!)

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

My house has no style! It's a combination of hand me downs and freebies. I would love to have the cottage or lodge look.

My is eclectic mess - hand me downs, beds with no headboards, a living room set from Rooms to Go....

If I had unlimited cash to redo I would love warm colors, good storage and comfy seating.

    Two words: CHERRY WOOD.

Everything would be in that gorgeous, rich red of cherry wood. I would have wroght iron candleholders affixed on my wall, a wroght iron chandelier, plush black rugs and leather furniture, the walls would be rich deep colors and the rooms would be perfumed with incense smoke. Ahhhh, bliss.

    Unlimited money?

I would choose modern with a touch of Japanese. No clutter (so excellent storage). The only clutter would be modern bookshelves with all my books neatly arranged.

    Reality is.
A lovely modern home filled with hand-me-downs covered with easy to wash denim slipcovers. Books stacked willynilly on shelves. Instruments all over the place (we have 2 pianos, 2 violins, a viola, a cello, a guitar, an organ, and a double bass!!!!!)
    Nice oak kitchen.
But my master bathroom is ahhhhh. Dark, dark navy blue with white tile, mirrors and a wonderful large bathtub (the previous owner was 6 ft. tall and had an extra big bathtub installed for her love it.) I keep it uncluttered.

The art work are mostly done by my children and our windows have wonderful views of mountains and the fraser river. I love my deck!

My style is country casual. I like to have furniture and flooring that I don't have to fuss over. I like antiques, I have my Grandparents dining room set and a corner table from my great Grandmother. I like to mix thing up also, I bought a tea cart at the Winterthur Museum gift shop for 50% off it had a scratch on the back no one willever see. I put the silver tea set DH gave me on our 25th anniversary, its very formal but looks great in our country living room. We have to have lots a comfy throws and pillows to cuddle up in. I am a avid gardener and DH has a race car that he is always working on. So I often say that we are definately not white carpet people I love Amish quilts, they are true works of art.

I'd choose the same style, just have more of it

    I like the country/primitive look. I like furniture...big furniture,but furn that looks,or is old.
My living room set is hunter green.I'd like to have a neutral color, but I'm not replacing my furn. to set my style...this stuff cost to much money.Wood flooring.

My kitchen is oak cabinets, oak on the walls, old primitve items....old scales, sifters, wooden spoons etc....the counters are hunter green....wood flooring.Steve's grandmothers cabinet sewing machine and a oak china cabinet.

the master bath is navy and a soft yellow. The yellow is on the walls and the flooring is white with navy. Shower curtain is navy, white and yellow plaid. Not hardly anything on the walls lol

master bedroom is neutral with some burgundy and navy.

Jackson's room is nascar. Mostly Dale Jr....His walls are half red, half black with a thin white line in the middle all the way around. Flooring is black and white tile ...looks like a checkered flag

Jayme's is PINK. Well the walls are a light oak paneling, cream carpet, white furn. and the decorations are either white or pink.

Katie and Ashleys is just messy lol

Prob more info than you wanted!!
