Gas Bill Woe's
Got our natural gas bill for mid Oct-mid Nov.; not good.
We only used 6.4 units and it was over $100. We used 1/3 less gas compared to last year for the same time period and it was even colder out. I see we used about 25 units in Jan 05. Great. This is shaping up to be a scary, scary winter

My natural gas bill was $56.00 and I thought that was high. The price increase is killing everyone
Seems like everything is going up these days.

oh Boy, it's no consolation to know you aren't alone in this I'm sure.
I'm hoping it is going to be a warmer winter than usual, for the sake of all those who are coping with the higher bills and no extra room in the budget.
Dh and I have a bit of breathing room due to dd moving out, but that breathing room is eaten up with energy hikes and the gasoline bills.
I'm just worried about the elderly and those on fixed incomes.

This is a worrysome situation. I also especially worry about folks on a fixed income.

Mine was $56 last month, and I still can't figure out why my gas usage is up. The only thing I can figure out is that I'm cooking more at home and I'm using the stove. It's still cheaper than eating out. I've rarely had the heat on so that can't be it! I'm really working on lowering my monthly expenses, gas included. My dh and I both work full-time so I keep the heat at 60 while we're gone. I may even put it down to 58 degress. I raise the temp to 68 when I get home for the first hour, then as soon as it reaches that temp, I turn the heat back down to somewhere between 62 and 64. Of course, I'm dressed in layers, always wearing socks/slippers, and a fleece.
Check out this thread I started:
Vornado Space Heaters~Lower Your Heat Costs?
The vornado space heater really works and I think it will be a solution to my high gas prices this winter. I don't keep it on all the time, just enough to warm up the room that I'm in.

I don't get mine for a couple of weeks. I'm a little nervous about it. Miss K is not a baby anymore, so we're keeping the house cooler....I'll just use the oven alot.
Mine's electric. My only gas is the waterheater & furnace.
