My first attempt at being frugal/stockpiling
I've been trying to learn a lot here over the last couple weeks. Last night, I sat down with the store ads from the 3 big grocery stores in my area. I went through each of them & wrote out 3 lists for what I was going to buy. I just wanted to post here the totals that I did to show my husband. This is not how much I want to normally spend but we were out of EVERYTHING (napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, jelly, peanut butter, EVERYTHING).
The stores I went to were Vons, Albertsons, Ralphs, Big Lots (got peanut buuter, jelly, stuff like that there) & the bread outlet (5 loaves of bread, 2 packages of dinner rolls, bagels, english muffins, package f 12 hamburger buns crackers all for $14!)
Before Coupons & Club Cards: $391.44
AFTER COUPONS & CLUB CARDS: $230.08
This amount of food is going to last us about 3 weeks. We usually spend $150/wk at least & eat out several times too. I tried to stockpile as much as I could. My freezer, fridge & cabinets ARE FULL

Well done, Tara. You're learning valuable lessons and putting them into practise. I can see you cutting that total down a lot more over the coming months. This is just the start of your journey into getting real value for your dollar. I'm sure your DH is proud of you.

That's great! Best thing to do now is make a good menu for the next three weeks and see if you can't squeeze a fourth out of that! You're doing great, keep at it!
