Default so the furnace fan vibration stopped, and now

my washing machine is thumping to it's own NEW vibration.

It's been on it's last legs for a while. It cracked some kind of bearing and oil's been leaking out for 15 years, and the Sears man said when it came near the end, it would lose it's ability to deal with ordinary balancing issues.

Well I've taken the clothes out, redistributed it 5 or 6 times and it's still bouncing and thumping and walking around.

I don't mind as long as it still squeezes the water out of the clothes in between cycles.

well everytime I have to move it, I just wipe up more of the sticky oily vaseline like tar or goo, and we carry on.

When I moved it to paint the laundry walls this time, there was less than usual so maybe enough has leaked out that the bearings are going to give way.

    Dunno.

    yup, faithful machine.

Maybe the tub is off kilter. It needs to be absolutely straight on and then tightened. Ours had to have that done (thankfully a friend new how). Our washer and dryers are 26 years old and have moved with us everywhere we go.

Hope she keeps on working for you Margery!

I sure hope that's not what's wrong with mine. My old girl is 21 years old. The last week she has been dancing all over the place. Maybe their walking the picket lines Margery I wonder what their demands are.

That has been a great machine. I hope you can get a bit more time out of her.

LOL ladies, it was showing ME a thing or two. It just felt that the furnace was getting all the attention. Normally I commune with it on a regular basis, and all of a sudden the furnace man came to call on the FURNACE!!!!

I'm hoping for another few years.

I'm going to try Hollyhill's suggestion if it continues jumping and bouncing around. Haven't fired it up since the other day, so I'm hoping it was just temporary problem.

Dh isn't that handy with the machines and I don't want to get in there but I will if I have to.

My transmission went in my washer and not only did it know the jig it sounded like we were launching the space shuttle in my laundry room. Becareful and watch it, when my washer finally went it started smoking. When your bearings freeze yours will too.

good thought pkellyc, I will keep an eye. I am usually home when doing the wash, but I will make a point to be right nearby. (the computer is right across from it, so it's Village TIME!!!)
