    Default grocery store rant

This is pretty silly, but I'm not happy. Our local Meijer store just got new carts. They've rearranged the entire store because super walmart has opened right behind it. Anyway, these new carts are smaller than their old carts. I shop monthly and normally stuff a cart full and am all set. Welllll, not anymore. Now the bottom of the cart is angled so I can't utilize it like I used to or stuff slides off. The upper part is smaller, so I left without a ton of stuff I'd normally purchase and will have to make a second trip. grrrr

HHHmmmm, that's kinda strange b/c I thought they were always making the carts bigger and bigger...? Maybe they've caught on to the idea that the more come in the more you spend....? Me thinks you've been covertly manipulated Sara.

Let management know in NO uncertain terms that you are not happy with the new carts. If enough people agree with you it's possible that they will bring back the other carts!

I have noticed a shift here to the smaller carts too. I don't like it, especially with trying to find a good comfortable spot in which to set three kids!!

We have smaller carts at the store I shop to, I usually have them filled to the brim and then I always have to tell the guy bagging to leave the seat open so I can put ds back in!

They have the smaller ones here so that they can slide them right up to the register, you don't have to unload your own buggy the clerk does it while she is ringing you up...

I would tell the manager...you never know...maybe they will give you a gift card or something for complaining..lol...

don't ya'll get it??? it's a coercive tactic...to discourage families from having more than what society deems acceptable (1-2 kids).....and to discourage "hoarding" which we here call "preparedness"...."stockpiling".................let them go ahead and change to smaller carts.....I'll just bring a few more houseapes with me when I go grocery shopping...they are capable of pushing an extra cart or two

Well, I have my own rant with Meijer. They only double two of the same coupons. So, if you have 3 coupons for chocolate chips for $.50 off, then you'll only save $2.50, not $3.00. It's so irritating! Plus, the maximum amount of coupons you can use is 5 for like items. Every now and then I have a bunch of similar coupons, and it is so annoying to think that I've saved all this money when in fact I haven't. So, the smaller carts must be so you can buy fewer loss leaders and so you just focus on the full price items. Meijer is no longer my favorite grocery shop. It's usually crowded and busy. Now, I go to Farmer Jack. They take an unlimited amount of coupons and will double all of my coupons.

Sara, it sounds to me like you are shopping less rather than shopping more. Once you leave their store there is no guarantee you will return there to do the rest of your shopping. I think if you let management know this discourages you from spending what you intended , they might see the light.
