yay me!!
I am so happy with me today!! I had to go into the lab to get some blood drawn for a few blood tests. I am usually a super big time baby about it. And often I pass out. But today i went to a different lab than usual. And they had a cubicle that had room and toys for kids to play with while mom/dad/care-giver gets blood drawn. So the kids arent seperated from parents. Well, i sat there, watched the kids play and didn't even really notice much when the tech did her thing! It pinched a little, but nothing at all like any other time in the past!! No passing out, no crying, lol.
only thing...i didn't get a lolly!

That's great, Missy!

When I am drawing blood, I try to talk, talk, talk to my patients to keep them distracted. I've never yet had a person pass out on me. Distracation can work wonders, and I'm glad it worked for you.

Normally the tech talks away...and i pass out anyhow. I even usually do it if i have the kids getting their blood done!

I have the same problem! I just hate having blood work done or seeing it done. The last few times (when preg w/ Ingrid) they let me sit on the floor and hold a cold washcloth, which did the trick for me. Weird, I know.

Oh, my- I couldn't imagine putting one of my patients on the floor. We lay the fainters down on an exam table.

Laying down never worked for me. And them trying to distract me didn't either. I can lose it all either way. Again, weird, I know.
to you, again, Missy! And you definitely deserve a lolly!
