    Default Shopping with the Family.

WHY did I wait to go for groceries when the whole family could come along?

[Fortunately, it was something of a cut rate grocery store.]

Because DH was along, we stocked up on soda. Good price -- $2/12 pack. But, without DH and the kids along, I would not have bought NINE 12 packs of soda. ($18).

Because DH was along, 2 different kinds of salsa made it into the cart. ($4)

And because the kids were along, $2.50 worth of candy. And $1 worth of fruit drinks. And $2.25 worth of those little single-serve applesauces.

    So, without the family, my $60 grocery bill would have been $32.25. [$60 - ($6.75 + $4 + $18)]

So, tell me. WHY did I take my family along?!

I now avoid taking the family along like the plague. Not sure which one is worse, dh or dd. They both seem to find these things they didn't know they wanted until they get there. Even dire warnings of 'we're only getting what's on the list!' and stern looks from me don't stop them! lol

    Bring on them baby steps...
    Step 1: done
Step 2: waiting on amount, hubby had followup colonoscopy, I had visit to ER with followup procedure
Step 3: to follow, won't know aim until things settle
Step 4: to follow, currently at 6%
    Step 5: grown child
    Step 6: huge mortgage ANNIHILATED!!
    Step 7: ahhhh....

I would prefer mine to stay home too. It sure saves money when they do. DH has gotten in the habit of coming along on my bi-weekly trips. He is learning fast though not to put anything in the basket until I see it.
