Default Looks like Scotti will be home within a week.

    This is from her Grandmother:

    "Morning Update: [Dec 2nd]

Scotti slept most of yesterday after the OR visit.. they had to graft more skin on her toes on her left foot.. the donor site is on her left thigh... the doctor still says they should go home next Thursday...
Scotti is not going home quite as mobile as Connie had previously thought she would... she will be in a wheel chair for probably 2 months or so... just walking to and from chair and bed, etc... She also will be wearing the pressure bandages for over a year... she will require massage therapy 3 times a day... They want to hold Scotti's weight down because the pressure bandages won't fit if she gains much weight...
She had asked for Chinese food last night, but was asleep when the family went to visit... they left the food hoping she would eat it later...
The end of the hospital stay is in sight... and Scotti is so excited about going home... they also took out the central line yesterday and her first IV blew... so they are encouraging her to drink, drink, drink....
Please pray for "everything needed to get her ready for home"... it's scary taking her home... so please pray for the family's anxiety to be relieved as well...

    Evening Update:
Scotti was scheduled for the OR for a dressing change today, but due to a backup in the OR the change was done in the room. She tolerated this as well as a bath and bed change with only one dose of oral pain meds today. She had just asked for some more at 9 tonight. She is really doing better with the pain. Praise the Lord! Scotti is still very anxious about getting up. Hopefully when she realizes she can do it she will be better. From what we can understand, the movement from the bed to wheelchair will be mostly a pivot on one foot as she may not be able to stand on the left foot for a couple of weeks due to the regrafting. Tomorrow there are no procedures so we should have a good day. It is hard to imagine that we may be home in less than a week. This has been a long ordeal and all of the prayers and support have been invaluable. Thanks for all everyone has done. Please continue to pray for Scotti to get stronger and be willing to do what she has to do to get ready to go home."

    Hello to all,

Sorry it is so late tonight before I got to update. It was a long trip home, and then I had to go by my mom's for supper.YUMMMY! I can never pass up mama's fried chicken!!!! Anyone who has ever eaten my mama's fried chicken knows why!

Well Scott had a very trying day today! Scotti started off the day by feeding herself breakfast, and lunch! She found out about her toes and got to see them for the first time. She was upset about not having toe nails, no problem though. Do you know they make fake toe nails, just like finger nails! Amazing and they sell them at Wally World! The nurses worked with her and stood her up, but she did not get to walk. Standing up was to pain full to try to walk. So she was able to wait on that. They did have her sitting up in the chair when we went in at 12:00 noon. She was feeding herself spaghetti, you should have seen that chick twirling those noodles around on that fork. It was AWESOME!!!!! She has developed alot more dexterity in those fingers!!!!Way to go Scotti!

When we left Scotti was in some pain, but was dealing with it pretty good considering that she had physical therapy and stood up. We will be home for a few days and then will go back for a few more days. Unless Scotti gets to come home this weekend. Which will be a long shot. So we are banking on next week sometime. Not a problem, just as long as she is ready.

Well it is late and time for bed. Thanks as always. Keep the prayers coming, you would not believe how well they are working. It has been truly miraculous!!!!! God Bless you and your family as He has blessed ours! Scott, Tammy, and Family"

The entry from th 29th was her stepmother.

Thank you everyone for continued prayers for this little girl. They seem to be working.

Thanks for the update. I was thinking about her just the other day. I'm so glad she's going home soon. Yes, indeed, the prayers are being answered.

I didn't see this post before, and I just did a search to see if there were any updates.

They have an alternate website that seems to get updated more frequently than the caring bridge one; as of 11:45 this morning they were on their way home!

This is the latest update as of the evening on 12/08/05:

"We made it home and it was so wonderful just to be here. Scotti had a good trip with little pain. She did sleep for about 45 minutes, but most of the time just enjoyed the scenery. Scotti was tired tonight but had a hard time getting to sleep. I guess she was just excited to be home. Please continue to pray for us as we adjust to being home and caring for Scotti. Grandaddy and I have decided our job starts now as there are no nurses. We will be doing the therapy as instructed by the hospital for a few weeks before we start outpatient therapy. Thanks for the wonderful homecoming. It means so much to have family and friends. "

    Wow- that's quick! Great!!!

I haven't heard from her great aunt in a while (truthfully, I haven't been at my computer much since before DD's surgery) so I appreciate the update.
