More nice people
Today the ladies in my Sunday School class went to see the Rockette's Christmas Show. My Sunday School teacher had given me a ticket as a gift, so I got to go too.
While we were at the show, one of the class members handed me an envelope and said someone told her to give it to me. Inside was $100! While there are a ton of things I could spend it on, I am taking it to the bank tomorrow and putting it in savings.
Then, another SS class member brought me home. When I got ready to get out, she handed me a bag with some new toys in it. She said she had bought them on sale and to wrap them and give them to the girls from DH & I!
Another class member asked me if we needed anything for the girl's Christmas, but I told her we are fine.
If Dh was in a better mood this would all be so heart warming. But everytime someone does something like this for us I think he takes it as a slap to his ability to provide.
Anyway, I wanted to share with people who could enjoy it with me.

You know I would just not let your DH know about all the wonderful things that are being done for your family. He doesn't see the joy of the season as well as other people and yourself do.

I agree! It's really nice that people are helping you out. I know I feel better when I give gifts to people that really need them. Not only does it bring you joy, but remember it brings them joy as well. I'm sure that when your financial life turns around, you'll be doing the same thing for other people.Originally posted by dwallyfam

You have some wonderful friends.
You are probably right about your dh. It's hard not to share all of the kindness that others are showing but it may make it harder on him emotionally and make your Christmas less joyful so keep on sharing here and we'll be excited and overwhelmed with you. Big hugs to you and yours.

Its so nice seeing how so many people are helping you make your daughters Christmas a good one!!
As for your dh...I guess thats a man thing. I think any man would feel he wasnt providing for his family. Sometimes we just need help. And tell him to look at it this way...if he was able to help someone that he knew wouldnt he?!! Of course he would!

Your right Tammy, it is a man thing. My Dh was like that while he was on unemployment and I respected that. He didn't relax about it until he was in school fulltime for a few months.......he then realized he wasn't a "provider" anymore but a student and his family was going to need help.......then Dh went to the foodbank at his school.....they were surprised it had taken him so long before he went there for a food hamper....he still doesn't like to do it but he does what he has to.
Your Dh is still working and earning an income........and as Tammy said he would feel like he wasn't able to provide for his family.....my Dh would have felt lousy too.
