This is ridiculous
I was just catching up on reading the local paper. (He subscribes and then I get it from him to read and recycle) It was talking about how 11 year old girls are now thinking that shopping at Victoria Secret is cool. They showed two girls that paid $69 each for a pair of sweat pants from there. Am I the only one that thinks $69 is a bit much for sweatpants.? Also I am the only one that thinks 11 year old girls shouldn't be in VS?

The 11 year olds had to get the money from somewhere....and probably a ride to the mall, too.
Sheesh!
I have never bought a single thing there....LOL!
Ashleigh has been there, but she knows the value of a dollar (sort-of LOL!) and she's more apt to get panites at target or Kohls or even Walmart instead.
$69 for sweats is excessive, IMO..........$20 for sweats is excessive.

I wouldn't pay $69 for sweats! I don't care where they came from, but that's just me.

Sixty nine dollars for sweats is a tad ridiculous... I cannot believe there are parents that allow young girls to even go there.. I would let my 11 year old go there ONLY if I were with her to see what she would want... BTW my 11 year old daughter would rather be rolling in the mud than buying anything femine, so I don't have to worry- YET...

I have bought frin VS but it was cologne for my hubby. It is "Very Sexy for Him" smells great! (was on sale and had a coupon) My daughter will not shop there whether she is 11 or 17..... I think their merchandise promotes too much sex.........

I go for the semi-annual bra and panty sale. I've found bras for less than $10 at VS. I wouldn't let my 11 year old shop there though.
Now, my son went in once when he was about 15. It was around Christmas and he went to buy me my favorite lotion and shower gel. My dad said he was a little on the nervous side because there wasn't another male in the store. The sales girls swooped down on him, helped him get everything picked out, boxed it, gift wrapped it and fussed over him. I guess that's why I still get VS lotions for Mother's Day...my birthday... Christmas... lol

Geeze, the ancient sweats I have on cost $1.74 on clearance! For $69.00, I could carpet my house with sweats!
As for my kids shopping there, my DSs are still at the playing with light sabers stage, so I doubt I need to worry about this for a few years. After that I hope they are shopping for a girlfriend and not themselves!

A fool and their money are soon parted.
I don't think 11 year old girls should shop there either and should not be walking the mall alone. Dropped of at the movie theater for a movie maybe but sheesh come on parents... parent.~*Darlene*~

I remember a funny story about the VS store. My sister and I were at the mall shopping around Christmas back 5 years ago, we always take 2 way radios (walkie talkies) in case we get seperated. My just turned 3 year old son had the radio clipped on his pocket of his overalls....... my sister called and asked where we were, my son looked up, pressed in the button and said "we are in the butt store" The cashier and I just started laughing .......... from his view all he did see was butts on the manaquins.

SSGWilkesWife! That's hysterical!!
I would never pay $69 for pants, jeans, or any other article of clothing for that matter.
But kids these days are out of control. I have a 16 yo dd who is much like that and it's so difficult to control her. When it's something she must pay for- she'll go to a discount store. If it's a gift or something someone else pays for, she's all over the mall with it.
So, we decided that she was going to get a cash allotment for school clothing. $xx dollars to spend. You can buy 1 pair of jeans at Abercrombie and Fitch or--- you can buy several pairs of jeans at a discount store- like TJ Maxx. This works sometimes.
But honestly, it's the money she earns at her job that she has a hard time parting with.
I had a budget for christmas. each child could get $xx of gifts. 16 yo dd wanted a Tiffany's necklace. I got her a gc to use to her own choosing. hoping against hope she'd pick something practical. She didn't. She choose Tiffany's. I have a lot of work to do with her. I have to be slow in the enslaught so as not to cause her to rebel. It must be subtle. It must be perceived as her idea.
Although- she admits she wouldn't buy underclothing at VS because who'd see the underclothes anyway? Can't show them off. Whew, that was a relief!

I would not pay that for sweats and am astounded that 11 year old girls would. They are sure starting a habit of overspending early in life.
