    Thumbs down Yikes! This Wind!

The wind has been blowing about 30 miles a hour almost all day. Sometimes it slows down to 15 mph. It is horrid! The air is full of sand and dirt. Our spa cover broke loose and is in the neighbors yard. It had to travel from beside our back door, down the yard and over the chain length fence and across the road to get there! I also noticed I have several loose shingles on the house and garage now and will have to have those repaired or replaced.

If it does'n't die down by 9 or 10 Las Vegas is cancelling the fire work show tonight. They are getting hammered like us but they also got some rain, we only got sprinkles.

I sure hope the winds stop soon......

I hope your wind ends soon for you. I bet alot of people who wanted to see the fireworks show will be disappointed if it doesn't.

My heart goes out to ya Carolyn. The wind blows here a lot and today it's just about blown 1/3 of our winter pool cover into the pool....Gripey's been griping about that I sure wish it would die down.

I can certainly relate. We have had sustained winds here of 30 to 40 mph all day. DH is a volunteer firefighter and the county emergency coordinator was on the fire radio earlier saying that the combination of extremely dry conditions, low humidity and high winds were making the chance of wild fires extremely high and for all fireman to stay alert to the chance of being called to help in the county. They have banned fireworks in all counties in our area and were handing out fines of $500 to all who were caught using them.

The winds stoped so suddenly it was creepy. The clouds all went away and the stars were brighter than ever! The fireworks in Vegas went off without a hitch and were beautifull to watch on TV. It lasted nearly 8 minutes! No wind today, thank goodness! I crossed the road and brought the spa cover inside the side gate and told dh he'd have to bring it the rest of the way, lol. The spa is full of dirt and sand and will have to be emptied and cleaned. Ugh! I only lost 1 shingle but will have to have our handy friend seal all the loose ones. Thankfully, it wasn't a costly storm.

Woke up this morning with wind gusts up to 45mph today. The really bad part about it is we're seeing some exceptionally warm weather for January, highs at 75 degrees. Ahh.... but it's too darn windy out there to enjoy it.
