Lightbulb Diva Cup Girls~Tell me what you think:)

I've been wondering if anyone else purchased a diva cup in the last few months.  I haven't purchased one yet.  Several months ago, there was some talk about this in another thread.  So, just curious to see how many people  still like the diva cup or are new users and love it. Also, if you have it and didn't like it, please post.

Shannon- I have been meaning to order one for years. Actually, I placed an order for the Keeper (prior to learning I was latex allergic) and it wouldn't go through because my "us it anywhere on the web" web certificate was a liar and wouldn't work for the Canadian company. (Thank goodness!)

Anyway, if I ever actually do it, I'll be happy to share my opinion.

And I'm sure most everyone already knows this, but eBay is the best place to buy, generally. The price is pretty much always the same, but some of the distributors on eBay offer free shipping.

I have heard good things about it, but never tried it myself. I might someday.

I've used the Instead Softcup for 6 years now. Obviously, we get along. Have been having to order them online, but they are finally getting into more stores, just saw them at Wal-Mart a few weeks back. I honestly feel nothing wearing them.

I wouldn't mind hearing from others on Diva or Keeper, myself. They last longer.

    Bring on them baby steps...
    Step 1: done
Step 2: waiting on amount, hubby had followup colonoscopy, I had visit to ER with followup procedure
Step 3: to follow, won't know aim until things settle
Step 4: to follow, currently at 6%
    Step 5: grown child
    Step 6: huge mortgage ANNIHILATED!!
    Step 7: ahhhh....

I used the Keeper which is similar I suppose along with cloth pads until my hysterectomy.

That saved me such a bundle of money!!! I was bleeding heavily every month and if I was using disposable products, tampax and pads (which would be used together as I did when I travelled to mil's) I'd be paying a fortune.

As it was the keeper and my cloth pads both worked better than their disposable lookalikes and felt more comfy.

I had a slight problem with the latex allergy so I just used the keeper to help stem the tide on the first worst days, then switched to just cloth on day 3 to the end whenever my body decided it was done (which also went on much further than when I was a young thing)

oh and I tried a weird shallow bowl device I forget the name that was supposed to act like the keeper by collecting everything.

It looked like a flimsy diaphragm. It was pink, cheap and disposable and came in a pack of about 4 or 6 or something.

It leaked like crazy. I guess I never got the knack of putting it in just so but the keeper never leaked unless it was hours since the last change.

get the keeper or a non latex alternative. It has a long narrow tube like collector, unlike the wide shallow bowl.

I've had the diva cup for almost 2 years now. I LOVE IT!!

My first two days are very heavy; I used to leak through a SuperPlus tampon in just 3 hours. Now I wear a liner for the first three days. Usually just one liner lasts all day. On the heaviest day, I empty it four times in 24 hours (AM, mid-day, PM & middle of the night). I would be messing with tampons 8 or 10 times. On later days, I just take of it in the AM (in the shower, actually) and again at bedtime.

Occasionally, I can feel the tip, right at the um...entrance. I do a couple of Kagels and it scoots back up.

I particularly like that I can go to the bathroom (#1 or #2) without needing to adjust the cup.

It did take a few months to get really good at inserting it just right. But I'm glad I stuck with it. Just wear a pad in case you make a mistake.

I also tried the disposable "Instead" and had a terrible time with them! They leaked whenever I sat down.

I agree with everything Valerie has said. I bought mine last spring and have just gotten to the point where I insert it correctly all the time. It is easy to use once you get the hang of it. I think of all the money I was flushing down the toilet (literally) and cringe. I also made some cloth sani napkins and use them at night or as a back up in the beginning of my cycle.
It was about $65 with the pads with it and well worth ever penny.

Oh yeah, that was what that one I couldn't use was called, Instead. Same thing with me Valerie.

But I love love loved that Keeper of mine. That and my comfy cloth homemade washable sani pads.

I tried the instead, too & it leaked for me. It made me sceptical of the diva up. I'd like to give it a shot, though. I go through a box of 40 tampons a month (sometimes more) & I need the name brand because the off brands don't work as well for me.

are there any big differences between the diva cup and the keeper?

i've been thinking of trying the keeper, but my concern isthat it will be uncomfortable to use. i had some bad scar tissue from when ds was born (horrible episotomy) and it makes uses tampons uncomfortable and sometimes painful to remove. prolly TMI, but i was wondering if anyone else has a simular problem with scartissue and if either the keeper or diva cup were comfy to use.

I had an epis that extended the rest of the way - it hurt for about a year. I have no problem with my diva cup. However, I was okay with tampons after that year. I did sometimes find tampons hard to remove if they were dry, but that's not a problem with the cup. TMI warning: The cup is not absorbant, so it doesn't soak up the natural lube; it slides out as easily as it goes in. (Wet it with warm water prior to insertion).

There are two major differences between the Diva Cup and the Keeper:
    1. The keeper is latex and the diva is silicone
    2. The keeper has a longer tail.

I did some research and found that many - if not most - women trim the longer tail. Since I also tend toward some latex sensitivity, that made my choice easy.

    HTH.

I trimmed the tail thing off my keeper altogether, and that made it work fine and feel a lot better. Along with the latex problem, I wish I'd known about the diva, I'd have gone for that instead, although I really was happy with the keeper.
