We have a quiet house. We only have the one son left at home though.

It's quiet now with the kids grown and gone....but quickly picks up when they are here I like my peace and quiet! I think I've gotten more sensitive over the years because when I go somewhere really loud, I get very nervous and uncomfortable. I especially do not like crowds when shopping.

I think my house is relatively quite & calm. Even with four kids, it's MUCH quieter than other houses I've been in. Granted, we usually have a TV on...
I think I equate loud with kids/adults yelling, tv up loud (mine never is), multiple tvs/radios competing, etc. It does get loud here, especially when all four of the kids are worked up over something, but those moments are short-lived thankfully

    quiet .... usually very quiet.

I don't allow TV on during the day. (unless DH is home). That cuts the noise by a bunch.

Sometimes DD#1 will put on a music CD in the dining room while she folds laundry.

DD#2 likes to listen to a book on tape when she's in her room.

Our dog isn't very noisy -- usually.

Right now, I hear the kids murmering as they wake up in their room. The washer and the dryer are humming. And my keyboard is clicking. That's it.

    *****************************
Now, when DH is home, the TV is on. But, at least that's confined to one room.

Quiet. I don't handle loud noise well, even when the radio or tv is on. We do a lot of reading and the kids are into crafts, so seldom is our home loud. Even when they play their new gameboys, they have the sounds on low.

I would say the only time it gets loud is when both keyboards are going at the same time or if I'm fooling around on the new keyboard.

Our general overall noise-level is quite quiet, though in the immediate vicinity of the two year old, it really all depends. She can play very quietly, or she can be running around making eardrum shattering noises depending on her mood.

Our's used to be very lively (er, um, noisey) but these days it's very quiet unless I'm cleaning like crazy and I have the stereo thumping.... Helps me keep on going........

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~
