Casey update
This is just a quick update about my god-daughter, Casey, who was in a serious road crash last April.
Casey came over for Christmas lunch, walking on sticks. She still has no feeling in her bladder or bowel and although she can walk a little way without the sticks, she quickly becomes tired and must sit down.
She's still having physiotherapy 4 days a week and seeing her specialist fortnightly. He says IF she goes back to work (she's a child care worker) it won't be for another year.
Her spirits are still high but she's getting very bored being at home all day when her friends are working and at the beach.
We are still hoping for more improvement.

Thanks for the update Rhonda. I know it must be hard to see the positive in this, but I'm just glad she recovered so much more already than everyone thought she would those first few dsays.
I hope she continues to recover.

Did they ever "diagonose" her with a SCI? I ask because I have some type of lesion and have been doing alot of my own "research" to know what I am facing and those are "classic" symtoms of specif SC lesions.
You know her spirits being up like this is a very positive thing, that is what gets you where you want/will be, it takes you futher having a positive outlook after having been given a nasty set of cards. She is still in the healing phase.
I know I get frustrated with the deficits I have post accident but, your body takes YEARS to fully recover from that kind of trauma, kinda like having a baby, it takes a good 2 years to get back to where your body was before baby.
The advocate I have from BSCIP(brain and spinal cord injury program) was involved in a wreck some time ago and he still has to use crutches himself but you learn to "adjust" and the man gets around like you would not believe.
Yeah, she will get worn out alot, it happens, espeically if she sustained a concussion or some type of brain injury, I jsut went to therapy myself today and while talking about it the neuro. psyc. I have said fatigue and well the "shaken sence of self" is the number one "defict".
That is great to hear Casey, is doing so well!
Give her a great big hug from someone going through the same crappy deal of cards

I had a light bulb moment after I wrote that, Beckie. Yes, Casey has been diagnosed with spinal cord injury, she was also unconscious for some time after the accident.
Thanks for your good wishes, everyone. I'm going to take Casey to the beach on Tuesday and I'll definately tell her that she has a bunch a great ladies thinking of her and wishing her well.
