    Default I'm in Geek Heaven

My students had a magazine fundraiser back in the fall. I decided to treat myself and order a magazine. GAMES magazine. My Dad used to subscribe when I was a kid and I loved doing the puzzles with him.

So, my first issue came today and Rob and I spent an hour, after putting the kids to bed, working on the big crossword together. It was fun. I can't wait for tomorrow! I'm such a geek.

I liked that magazine too. Remember the "what is this" photos where they just showed you a small part of the object.
    Enjoy!

I know how you feel! Games is a *great* magazine. I usually work the crosswords by myself, but when I subscribed, my dh and I would spend many evenings working on puzzles together. It was cheap and fun, and we usually worked really well together as a team - together we got things that neither of us would have figured out on our own.

For a while, dh worked at a very geeky company, and they had an annual 'puzzle hunt' put on by a group of puzzle freaks. (The winners of the overall competition had to put together the *next* puzzle hunt.) Anyway, it was a bunch of puzzles some mathematical, some treasure hunts, some language based - you name it. Think Games magazine on steroids. You entered a team of people and spent the weekend trying to figure out where all the puzzle 'clues' took you. At the end of the weekend, all the groups would get together and see how they scored, and what the final 'prize' was. People would stay up all night eating pizza and searching the Internet to figure out what the puzzles meant. Much fun!

Wow...might have to re-subscribe. My kids (now 10 and 13) would probably enjoy a lot of the puzzles too. I'd hate to have to fight them for the magazine...hmmm...
