    Default My Story...Newbie

First of all I want to say this is without a doubt one of the best sites I have ever found online.
Such a great forum with excellent topics and helpfull advice.....
I hope Im posting in the right section, feel free to move if im not..

Well, Im 25 years old, mother of 1 and I have been married for 7 years.
We own our own home, but It wasnt until 2 months ago that I realised exactly how much debt we were in.....
Needless to say, Im worried about being so stupid and paying for most things on credit cards, it was such a shock to actually evaluate how much debt we owe.

Compared to my friends, we are the only married couple, so it's hard to speak to them about debt and about the changes we will have to make.
Thats why I have found this site so informative and helpfull to me.

The last straw came for me in october when I saw our credit card and our car bills together, I knew then that something had to chage, it really was a wake up call for me.

I hope Im not rambling on to much, it just feels great to be able to post on a site which has wonderfull threads and inspiring stories....Also I thought I may be too young to post, but Im really hoping this isnt the case as I feel much older than 25
Thanks FV for being a life-saver to me!

Hey UKMum, so glad you jumped right on in and started posting. Of course you aren't too young, I don't think anyone is too young or too old to learn a thing or two.

Realizing just how much you owe and taking stock of things is a great first step! Keep reading the forums and if you have any questions just holler. Someone on here has either encountered the same thing or knows someone who has. Even if no one knows the answer, you will get tons of suggestions and ideas, take what's useful for you and discard the rest!

    BTW Welcome to the village!

Hi and welcome to the village.
Like everyone else said you're never too young to take control of your finances. Read some of the older threads and join in some of the challenges. It's really helped me.

You're not too young. Support and information are beyond chronological age. So is friendship.

I would like to mention that your experience is pretty common. Many people think they have just a little debt, until they step back and look at it all together. And many people feel stupid. I encourage you to get past feeling stupid and form a plan. You can't change the past, but you can change your future.

There's a thread called "Looking in the Mirror" that was started by LuckyStar. She does a great job of journaling her progress from "Boy, we have a lot of debt," to "Here are the steps forward we made this month." You might find it encouraging.

FWIW, our credit card (the one below in my signature line) hasn't had anything new charged on it in 6 years (I think). Do I feel stupid sometimes? You bet! But it just strengthens my resolve to fix things NOW.

I wish I had realized when I was 25 that my family needed to make a change. That was 20 years ago! Things would've been so different!

If you're too young then I was definitely too young when I joined. (I'll turn 25 this year) I say bravo to you for wanting to get your finances fixed now. Think how much better the rest of your life will be! Good luck!
