    Default USS Ronald Reagan

The USS Ronald Reagan is visiting my capital city on it's first overseas deployment. Brisbane is the first port of call for R&R on a tour of the Pacific. I thought the families of service personnel would be interested to hear what everyone is up to over here.

This huge aircraft carrier docked yesterday and will stay in Brisbane for 4 days. There are 6,000 personnel on board. I became aware of them because there are a few hundred of them up here near my home. They helping to expand the sick and injured animal hospital at Steve irwin's Australia Zoo. While they were there they got up close and personal with the wildlife. I saw some of them with a huge python, some with sick koalas and, no doubt, they would have seen the crocodile feeding show.

Another group is visiting sick children at the kids' hospital and another group had a basketball match against our local state team, the Bullets. The Bullets won. lol

Last night they were all out and about looking around our lovely city. A number of local families extended hospitality to the sailors and I'm sure there were many girls and boys out hoping to meet them too.

And I also meant to say so do all the kind people there inviting them into their homes. I was engaged to a sailor for a while, and I was always grateful when a local family would take him in for holidays and such when he was away from home.

How wonderful! Ronald Reagan was one of my favorite Presidents and those serving on the Ronald Reagan (and elsewhere) are the pride of the USA. Thanks for your hospitality!
