    Default I need some ideas...

My church did a "reverse offering" yesterday. all the congregation was given $5 and we are supposed to come up with a way to double it and return it to the church. I need some ideas! Between my fiance, kids, mom and myself we have $30. what do you all think?

Is your church in need of improvements? Maybe you could pool your money together to pay for paint or materials, and do the improvements yourself? You could easily pay for materials to paint a room for $30.

Actually the idea is to increase the cash. My sister suggested babysitting for a night but I am not sure if I like that idea. I thought about a bake sale at the zoo where I used to work but who knows!

    Well, that is sure different.

How long do you have to double the money?

You could scour thrift stores for something (or things) fabulous that you can sell on eBAy for twice what you bought it for.

Like I bought a book that is extremely hard to find at a garage sale for .25- I cold sell it on eBay for a LOT more.

Or look around the house for things you could put on eBay and use part of the cash to pay for the listing or shipping fees.

Or find a couple things around the house to try to sell here at the village, and use the money for shipping (with my disclaimer that obvisouly, the village isn't responsible if it doesn't sell!)

If I think of any more ideas, I'll let you know.

I thought about doing those things too. I have until the beginning of March.

I supposed it depends on what your talents are. If it were me, I'd hold the bake sale, buy fabric or yarn and make items to sell -- potholders, baby items, sock trims go well here.

Or-- I'd buy card stock with the money-- use my digitgal camera to take local pictures and make postcards to sell.

How about spice mixes like for dips, taco mix, etc-- in little zip lock baggies (you can buy those at craft stores) make cute labels with the church logo and sell those.

Or lunch kits--- canned vienna sausages or other meat, canned fruit or pudding, juice box, napkin and wet wipe, along with a scripture verse, and info about your church--place in decorated colored lunch bags(or make fabric ones from old jeans or $1 fabric from Walmart) sell for a bit more than you spent.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood. These are some great ideas.

Probably to class members, send some to work with mom, to school with the kids, to work with the fiance and to former coworkers at the zoo

Ick! I don't like that setup. It is HARD to double your money. And to lay that kind of responsibility on each person in the church!

Could you opt out? I would want to. My time is more valuable than the amount of $$$ I'd accrue by making and selling a product.
