well this is what a hot date looks like for me and dh
we get to McCrackens pub, meet our friends the other couple, and haul out our 2 for 1 coupon, they haul out theirs, and we settle in for a NIGHT ON THE TOWN!!!
I got eye makeup on and EVERYTHING!
Another friend wanders in unexpectedly with her boyfriend (recently divorced, the girl knows how to have a good time, he is way younger than her, she got herself a BOY TOY!!!)
and joins us.
Whereupon the conversation turns to
The last social event the two gals went to (not me)
and you'd think it would be a rip snorting good time so we can really go over it conversation wise. Ought to be something to discuss at length.
After all we are all dressed up in that den of sin, McCrackens pub. Union workers all around drinking beer and all. Her with her boy toy. A pool table in the middle, a smoking room to one side with nobody in it but one or two men pensively watching the remains of a hockey game.
A really good gossip about a social EVENT!
Well it was after a fashion.
It was a funeral.
Meanwhile I cracked up. You really know your age when your friends and you go out on the town for a hot date with a 2 for 1 COUPON
and the conversation turns to the last funeral and who was talking to who at it.
Turns out the sisters of the dearly departed weren't talking and glared at each other the whole funeral BUT THE SANDWICHES WERE REALLY GOOD!!!!
I'm terribly sorry about the dearly departed who I never knew, and may he or she forgive me for a chuckle at their last social event of their life. Which my two friends found fascinating. They are 5 and 7 years older than me so that may explain it.
But honestly.
To think I used to look forward to being a grown up, and going out on dates even after I was married.
I didn't cook, and I did have makeup on. But the talk centered around funeral sandwiches.
We are turning into old ladies and old men before our time whose occupation is watching the obits to see who died and where and when to show up for the funeral, and to comment on the quality of the food.
I'm too young for this!!!!!!!!!!! Either getting out on a date has to include more than this, or I'm giving up on a social life.
Just thought you might enjoy the sinful hijinks dh and I enjoy when we go OUT ON THE TOWN!

What really worries me is the boy toy seemed mildly interested. In the conversation.

That story is totally funny although I wonder what age difference is considered a boy toy? My hubby is 6 years younger than myself and my family has teased me on occassion about that very thing.

Sounds like a good time to me!!
Of course, my DH's idea of a 'hot date' is taking me to the junkyard to look for parts for our truck!
