Unhappy bad night- police at my house at 3:30am

Around 3:30 this morning I heard a noise on the front porch, and when I looked out, saw four guys out there.  I got my husband who confronted them while I called 911.  It turned out to be four high school kids pouring lighter fluid all over our door and welcome mat, and getting ready to light it.   They took off, and DH tried, but couldn't catch them.

We had the entire police department here, as they had to treat it as a case of retaliation against an officer.  (Dh is a cop in another local town.)  They had the dog, but lost the scent on the next crossroads- the kids probably had a car there.

It scared me half to death, let me tell you.  This is a safe neighborhood, and I've never heard of anything at all happening here- let alone arson!

DH is sure it was a random thing, just kids playing a prank.  That may be, but it doesn't make me feel much better.   I don't know how I'll sleep the next time DH works a night shift.

OMG! I'm so sorry that you have to go thru that! I hope that they catch those kids! That is so terrible. Kids have no idea of the danger that they put people in. I'll be thinking of you!

OMG, I'm so sorry Amy. I hope they catch these kids (and throw the book at them) and that it is indeed a random thing.

OMG. I am so happy that you heard them. Just try and relax a bit today.

I agree with Dee-they need to have the book thrown at them. They had to know how dangerous that was.

    Oh Amy!
That's so scary. I hope they catch the kids (punks). I am glad that you heard them and that you and your family are safe.
I read your story to my DH and he shoook his head and said how nasty some kids are, (he didn't use the word nasty ) I'm sure the local police will be watching your house. Sorry to hear of your troubles
