Dh dumbfounded a cop at the cops driving
Fri. dh had taken the younger 3 kids to school. On the way out, there was an "unmarked" detective car speeding through the school zone, dh pulled out in front of him to slow him down. Afterall, there are many little kids walking to school unattended. Anyway, he was on the cell. He came within inches of hitting the crossing guard after the guard had the sign up and kdis where walking out. Well, again dh pulled in front of him. Well, the guy was still on the phone. So, he pulled up in the other lane, he iniciated the "conversation, after he seen dh writing his tag info down. He wanted to know dh's problem. Oh boy was that not good
. DH went off on him at how there was not one but 2 school zones he was speeding through and all over the road and no lights on "if" he was on call, does not matter, they are NOT allowed to speed through the school zones. He almost hit the guard. And he goes on who are you blah, blah, blah. Well, dh calls the main office(sherriff is over that "zone" area. DH knows most of the area "enforcement" whether, police, detectives, sherriff, he knows too many people and too many know us
The car was unmarked but dh knows enough of them to know who it went to. Well, he has a "commander" call him later. They thought dh must be in law enforcement because of the "insider" info he has. The guy was also informed he was behaving in a way that endangers many lives and that it is not legal and he was not above the law and really should be setting an example to go by not breaking the laws. Well, he went off and he was fuming. Oh and no he was NOT on a call, he was off dututy(the "commander" could find this guy as being on shift)
So, dh talks to several area "commanders" and they where looking into exactly who this guy was and it is going to be a problem for him behaving in this manner when anyoen else would be in serious trouble, law enforcement is no different when it is all endangering others lives.
The crossing guard gave dh 2 thumbs up as this sort of thing is common around most of this state anyway. When there is someone being erratic especially through the school zones, that is a problem and DH calls them on it, someone has to. The schools in general through there have tried for years and can't get anything done to control speed problems but since our kids have been there, we have pushed and gotten them out there allot, not that it does much good but, no onelse seems to step up to push to get something done. I have not really pushed allot of it last year or this year for obvious reasons, I did start to get on of our congressmen involved to put more presure on whoever it needs to go on to do something. Maybe good therapy
for me to get back into it as it is still an issue.

It amazes me how so many cops feel they can do anything they want to do anywhere they want to do it. They are always speeding and seem to think they are untouchable. Don't get me wrong I am sure there are as many good ones as there are bad ones but it is scary.

Yes, there are many good cops it is the ones that have this sort of I am above the law behavior that sticks in people minds and those are the ones that make the mlook back and really they should be outted!
Yes, it is scary especially when it is lead by example and it is not being done.

I am glad your DH took the tag number and reported it. I don't think police officials are above the law either.
One of our local officers never buckles his seat belt or makes his children wear theirs. (Which is the law in Texas.) Everyone knows it and I can't see how he has the right to give anyone a ticket for not wearing theirs. What a bad example he is sitting.~*Michelle*~

I'm married to a good cop, and I know many others who are good people and work hard.
That said, the officers you are talking about most definitely should be reprimanded, ticketed... whatever needs to happen. There's no reason for them to feel they are above the law.

We have tons of that going on where I live, Cops think because their cops they are above and beyond the law. It's very upsetting!

Glad your hubby stepped in and that nobody was hurt. A pox on that "detective".

I'm glad to hear this. Its true, not a lot of people seem to stand up on this issue, which is a problem in quite a few areas.
