Meals on Wheels
I've been asked if I would be interested in volunteering to deliver Meals on Wheels and I said yes. I only have to do it every 3rd Wed. of the month. I start the end of March and I'm really looking forward to serving the shut-ins in our community.
Anyone else volunteer for Meals on Wheels?

I don't, but I saw a really good Seinfeld episode about it!
Seriously, it sounds like a neat thing to do, and I suspect you'll love it, once you get to know your patrons. Good luck and let us know!DH aka Mad Hen

Well here meals on wheels is a paid job not just volunteer.
Not well paid but still you do get paid.
I do that, I work 5 days a week 3.5 hours a day delivering meals. Here where I am we deliver a total of about 350 meals a day I deliver between 32 and 39 a day.
It is a great feel good job!! I LOVE it, it would be what I plan to do for as long as I can. I have been doing this every day since October but only a sub-driver before that since last April.

Have you seen the meals? They look awful. My sister takes care of the elderly in their homes some of them won't eat the meals.

The meals I deliver (most of them) taste and look decent.
Today was ham with a pinapple sauce, stuffing, whipped potatoes and mixed veggies we also deliver a milk with dessert today was ginger snaps.
Yesterday was stuffed samon with boiled botatoes and again mixed veggies and french bread again milk and a dessert.
Tomorrow is baked chicken with gravy whipped potato and corn again with a milk and dessert.
They look and taste like any frozen dinner (most of them look decent but then some don't look so appealing) but they all meet 1/3 of the daily nutrition requirements.
There are some people we don't like what we serve every day but they will eat it most days.
But really they are decent for free meals. And in our office we make 350 every day and you can't always please everyone when you are making meals for so many people.

I am not a meals on wheels person but I think it is a commendable(sp??) thing to do. If I drove I would add this to my volunteer list.
Really nice CJ
