Hello!!
Hi Everybody.
I thought I'd introduce myself. I found this forum a few days ago and it's exactly what I've been looking for!!! You all seem so supportive and committed to living frugally, getting and staying out of debt, and saving money.
I have gotten myself in a pickle with my careless spending and I can't stand it anymore!!!! My goal is to stop using credit cards, pay off all my bills (4 credit cards, car payment, 2 motorcycle payments, student loans, mortgage, etc!!!), and I want to do this in 2 years. I've been listening to Dave Ramsey lately and I like what he has to say. I've been working on an emergency fund while paying off my debts and already I feel better.
I get stressed out sometimes thinking about all the money I owe and what might happen if I get sick and have to miss work for a long time. Or if I get laid off. I also hate myself for letting it get this far. I could have so much money saved if I only behaved differently all these years. Oh well, better late than never.
Anyway, thank you for letting me rant a little. I'm excited to be here and I look forward to all your ideas and support. I think that's what I need the most right now.

I guess I should clarify Madhen. I'm not including my mortgage in that goal! If I were, I'd be at 10 years too! However, I have about $64,000 in debt without my mortgage as of Jan. 1, 2006. I have been able to pay off about $4000.00 in the past 2 months, so I am now at $60,000. I have about $500.00 in my EF and I will take Dave Ramsey's advice and build it up to $1000.00 as soon as possible.Originally posted by madhen

I am completely committed to this. I have created a MS Word table that lists all my debts and the amounts I pay to each one monthly-it keeps me honest!! I have target dates built in to each debt, but if I'm a little off I've decided I am not going to beat myself up. This is about making myself feel better, not worse.
Thanks so much everyone for your warm welcomes!!!
