I have a ?
What is the name of someone who is scared to leave their house? Also, do you know if their is a site that you can look up a word using the definition? I cannot find the name given to those who haven't left their homes in long periods of time....Please help!!

The name is agoraphobia! It is a form of Anxiety Disorder. If you do a search on agoraphobia it will bring up alot of info on it!

I was talking to somebody the other day, and when I went to refer something to agoraphobia, I had to say it like I did in my original post, and I have been looking for the word, agoraphobia, since with no luck.
I should have came to the village first.......

I think Emily Dickinson had this problem. I have a friend who hasn't left her house for over 3 years. She has some health issues, and has a difficult moving around. Still it is so sad.

There was a movie once with Sigorny Weaver (sp) in it I believe. She was a lawyer or something and got hurt at work and it made her become one of these. It was a really good movie just can't remember the name.
