I have a 2003 Expedition and I LOVE IT!!! Its got lots of leg room for people sitting behind the driver (a BIg deal to us because my husband thinks he has to sit in the back seat to drive!)
Its got tons of room and I feel like its really made for the driver. Everything I need is within reach.
Having said that, I've had some weird problems with mine lately. The inside of the muffler broke apart (warranty) and the rear suspension had to be adjusted (no charge).
When this one wears out in about 10 more years I will probably buy another one. We test-drove every SUV on the market before we bought it and its the only one that was comfortable for EVERYBODY and had all the room and features we wanted.

    Hope that helps!

Our Son & Family has one & loves it, even though it is a gas guzzler!

We have ridden in it & I like the fact you are high up & can see so well...and it is very comfortable.

I wanted one so badly, then test drove and didn't buy. I am 5 foot 2 on a good day and very short in the leg and could not comfortably get in and out even with running boards. Also, I would regularly need to use the 3rd row of seats for the kids and was completely unable to reach the back unless I literally climbed all the way in and leaned over the back to seat. A friend who is about 6 inches taller than me has been very happy with hers and has been able to put 2 toddler and a rear facing seat across the back seat so she didnt need to use the 3rd row so often.

    Yes I love my EXPY

I have a 2001 which I bought in 2003 for $20,000 from friends of my best friend who were moving to Florida.

It had 48,000 miles on it! I always wanted an EXPY when I bought my 1992 Explorer in 1998 after we bought our house but couldn't afford one then so now that the Explorer has over 300,000 miles on it had to get the transmission rebuilt, this past winter we had the hubs fixed for the 4 wheel drive. It still goes & is basically our spare car for Home Depot or when the EXPY is out for servicing & repairs.

Ma moved in w/us after my brother died of adeno-carcinoma in 2002 & since driving her to her Dr.'s appointments I needed something bigger since I gotta fit the girlz DH, Ma & sometimes I may have one of my friend's & her baby w/us so thinking about the future planning when DH & I have a baby or babies they'll be enough space!

Since one-day everyone was in the Explorer we stopped on the way to pick-up my friend Lisa & her baby Katelynn on the way to DH Parent's house for Thanksgiving & I had the GRACO Pack N Play & food all the way in the back. Keona was sitting back there too! Samantha was sitting on DH lap so there was enough space for the car seat & Lisa, a bit squished Ma sat up front & I always drive so my seat never changes that often! Good thing it was a very short drive around the block!

So thinking I need to buy a bigger SUV & more reliable means of transportation @ 1st I wanted to get an Excursion but I have a few friends who have this & says it's a gas guzzler! My friend Paul had a red one for his wife & calls it a fire truck which he was forever filling up so he sold it & told me just to get the EXPY it's big enough for me!

Since I have asthma & migraines I really need to have air conditioning while driving & the Explorer's never worked we got it fixed but doesn't work that well!

In my EXPY there is dual temperature zones which comes in handy if someone gets too cold/hot!

The only thing I miss the EXPY doesn't have is a moonroof/sunroof the Explorer has a sunroof!

I was w/o the EXPY for over a week since the head gasket was leaking & needed to be fixed! It was covered under the ESP coverage which was transferable when I bought the SUV but I had to pay $50 to do that! The deductible was also $50 so when I brought it in for servicing to the dealer for the RECALL for the CRUISE CONTROL & since my mechanic @ the shop told me this is a very expensive job to do since the whole motor has to be taken out cause where the gaskets are is somewhere in my dashboard front seat area & there's no way else to get to them. He said my ESP Coverage would cover it but I had to have the dealer take care of it NP!

Found out I can't transfer the ESP Coverage to my name w/o written permission from the people I bought it from even though they gave me the title & ESP papers, etc. when I picked up the EXPY. So bringing it into the dealer since they had to diagnose the problem I had to pay the $50 deductible eventhough it wasn't transferred yet!

Now to locate the people in Florida which was a bit interesting not sure which part of FL they moved to & my PC wasn't working so using the library PC took a bit of time, found them finally since I did many GOOGLE searches & found out they were in Bradenton so I did a few searches on painting, home improvements, etc. sinc I knew he did this kind of work & before I pay to get a more informative type of background check search which I didn't need just to contact them & waste even more $$$$ but if that was the only way to save more money fixing my EXPY w/the ESP Coverage then I probably would pay the $10 - $20 instead of paying the dealer thousands

It's got 69,000 miles on it & the ESP Coverage is only up to 75,000 miles, while @ the dealer DH asked if there's another plan we can buy after that & he said no I have gotten other offers in the mail that go past that mileage but how much they want for the coverage I'm not sure if it's worth it I don't have any of them w/me now to post here!

So anyway after getting a few phone calls & forgeting exactlly what I was posting here :sorry: bout that!

I got everything straightened out the ESP Coverage transferred & the whole head gasket fix cost me just my deductible & tax $54.31.

Now my EXPY is back to driving @ 60 - 70 MPH w/o me knowing I'm going that fast! it doesn't feel like it's got a clogged injector, a much more smoother ride! now!

Here's a pic of when I bought it they had posted on Cars.com I saved this on my PC about all the info, etc. in email!

We needed a new car for dh, because he couldn't fit all 3 carseats in his '97 Explorer. So, we shopped around, and dh haggled like no one's business and he bought (2 weeks ago) a 2005 Expedition, that he was able to get for more than 1/2 off. We love it. It is huge, as Missy said. I kinda have to hop out, but it's great.

If you are looking to buy new, now is a good time for a 2005, because they are trying to get them off of the lots before the summer shipments of the 2007's. That's how we were able to get such a good deal.

My sister (somewhere around here) has one. I think she really likes it, but it DOES use a LOT of gas.
